SOURCE: How to do a complete factory reset of a Sony Bravia KDL-32P3000

Just talked with Sony Support today.

It seems that Sony in Denmark had sent out new software updates (over DVB-T) but also some wrong TV's got updated as well. This caused my DVB-T tuner to not function anymore so I wanted to try a factory reset and it fixed my problem.

So I was instructed on how to do this. I have a Sony Bravia KDL-32P3000 (which should be similar to the U3000 and S3000 as well).

This is how to do a factory reset of your Sony Bravia KDL-32 P/U/S-3000 TV.

PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THE SERVICE MENU, YOU CAN EASILY CAUSE YOUR TV TO MAL-FUNCTION!!!! IF YOU FOLLOW THIS GUIDE IT IS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

Set your TV in standy (use the green power butten on your remote), RED standby LED is ON on your TV.

Now press these buttons in this order on your remote (pointing to the TV).
i+
5
VOL UP (+)
GREEN POWER button

NOW BE CAREFUL! Dont press any keys just for the fun of it!!! IT MAY DESTROY YOUR TV.
You should now be in the service menu. It will show up as some green letter/numbers spread over the screen (mine are a bit hard to see/a bit faded). In the upper right corner you should have 2 letters TT (two t's).

Now carefully press key 0 and then key 8 on your remote (they should be shown on the screen after the two TT).

Now wait a little while (more than 10 seconds) and your TV should reset with factory settings, just as if you had just brought it home from the TV store.

Best wishes,
Mads

SOURCE: No sound in Sony Bravia

If the sound is not heard during tuner (channel) but is when using an AV input (DVD) then it is likely the Second Audio Program (SAP) has been engaged. Some SONYs simply have a button on the remote to toggle through choices, SAP is used primarily for second language transmission of audio. Either move to a PBS station or some other channel that specifies SAP programmimg or turn the choice (MTS in some SONY menus) back to "main" by either a remote button or in the audio menu.

Good luck.

SOURCE: Sony Bravia - no picture,

First thing to try: unplug from the wall; count to ten; plug back in; try again

Second thing to try: unplug from the wall; count to 10,000 (or wait 10 minutes or so); plug back in; try again

#1 worked for me when it would power on with no video, no sound, just small green light + white logo

My Sony Bravia suddenly went off and I rebooted it, but although it gets power, there's nothing on the screen.

Somethings failed internally. Possibly a board or internal fuse. I assume there is no sound either?

Something has failed internally, either a fuse or control board or power supply board. I gather it doesn't have sound either?

Sony bravia black screen audio ok

It is a LCD set and if sound get it in a very dark room and with a flashlight and the set on look to see if you see a very faint image on the screen.

Almost all these sets use a back light system for brightness---an inverter of some type to power the lights---either the back light is bad or the voltage for it is not present or being turned on.

Sony BRAVIA KDL-40W4000

Hi there,

I've been looking into this myself as I've also recently purchased the KDL-40W4000. I was watching a murky old film and was getting a bit of sludgy ghosting but found that by reducing the contrast to 25, setting the backlight on low, colour on neutral and the brightness about 40-60 (and taking ALL advanced noise functions off), this reduced the ghosting considerably.

BUT, this is quite a cool and dark image. If you watch standard TV and films mainly, a variation of the Cinema setting is probably the best overall setting i.e.

backlight: min
contrast: 79
brightness: 50
colour: 53
colour temp: Warm 2 (although Warm 1 is less yellow and still fine)
sharpness: min
noise reduction: off
mpeg nr: off
contrast enhancer: off
colour space: standard

Vertical line on KDL-32s20l1

You'll get this abnormality some times due to the signal if you're watching regular analog picture and you have your TV set on full screen, the TV will stretch the picture and you will see more defects than if you're watching it on normal picture. But if you are seeing the same problem when watching HD picture it needs to be serviced try this link I found: http://www.moniserv.com/doc/lcdtv.html
