Can AMD Phenom X4 9650 Quad to use in motherboard Asus M4A78T-E ?

Yes your motherboard supports AMD Phenom X4 9650 Quad. However you need to make sure your BIOS verson is greater than 1503. if not you need to upgrade your BIOS.

Caution: Update your BIOS if its absolutely necessary and at your own risk. Wrong move may spoil your motherboard.

I want to install win xp on VPCEE29FX/BI

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit CPU Type: AMD Phenom II Triple-Core P820 1.8G Why would you want to "downgrade" from the high-performance 64-bit version of Windows 7 to Windows XP?

XP probably won't support the "triple-core" processor, nor the sound-card, nor the video-card, nor the USB ports. This would leave you with a very CRIPPLED computer.

Don't try it!

I installed a AMD Phenom(tm) 9950 Quad-Core Processor which runs at a speed of 2.6 ghz but windows xp pro is only reading it at 1.3 ghz. I also have 4 gigs of ram but windows xp is only reading 2.75. The...

There seems to be some sort of incompatibility issue between your motherboard and the Phenom, or maybe some option is not enabled in the motherboard bios that windows is only sensing half of the GHz, like if the processor is only running 2 cores instead of 4.

About the memory diference, that same problem is because the 64bit difference. Unless you have a 64bit XP you won't see the full 4GB. Windows XP is limited to 3 or 3.5GB of ram it can use, you are showing 2.75 maybe because some video board is integrated in your motherboard and it may be borrowing an extra 0.25GB from the 3GB that are usable under windows XP 32bit OS.

Please comment what motherboard you have, since the cpu alone can't be blamed nor configured.

Which is a better processor?

The AMD Phenom x4 is actually cheaper with 4 cpu cores compaired to Core 2 duo which has 2 cpu cores, you will get a better deal for less money on a AMD x4.

Heres a chart you can look at
http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/desktop-cpu-charts-q3-2008/3DMark-Vantage-CPU,817.html

I just got myself the AMD Phenom 9650 for 150usd
The core 2 duo e6600, which I would recommend from the core duo series costs around 200 usd.

Note that the Duo only has 2 cpu cores. You get double the power on a phenom 4x with 4 cpu cores
So the phenom is definitely the best choise! (double the power for 50usd less)

Anything else?
