SOURCE: kenmore range/oven heats up to

It appears your thermostat/probe has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question.

Kenmore oven shuts off before preheated

On any gas appliance there is a high and a low limit temp stat which could be indipendant or on the gas valve it's self, that is faulty.
When the oven reaches temp, it cuts out. sounds like faulty over heat stat.

Oven heats to temp then shuts off, may or may not turn back on

Your pre-heat cycle seems to be stuck. It is to heat to that point and then hold the temp. Go to the maytag.com website. I have found them to be very helpful in locating and emailing info. They also have someone you can talk to. My Maytag appliances are registered with them, they can look up and follow all history of the appliance.

Oven will not reach temperature set

Get an accurate thermometer. Look on the oven control, there will be a calibration screw. It takes a while, but with small adjustments and accurate temp measurements, you can calibrate the control.

I have a kenmore oven. Just got an F2 error and the oven element will not turn off. Even when powered down, it heats back up when oven is in off position.

Range "Older Style"
F2 Oven too hot Replace relay board (if present) or oven temperature sensor

Range "Newer Style"

F2 Oven temp sensed; over 600F sensed by control in time of day mode, bake mode, or over 900F sensed in clean mode. Ohm test the oven temperature sensor, if OK, change power relay board.

When you turn oven on it heats up to a certain temperature and then shuts off.

Hi

This means a loose/broken wire on the oven temp sensor or the oven temp. sensor itself is bad and should be replaced. To solve this issue test the oven temp. sensor, it should read between 1080-1120 ohms, if the rating is more then that and the door appears to be closing fine then it is the control board that is bad and should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Oven pre heats then beeps with "F 2"

Hello,If this has a controller that runs a microwave and an oven, then the problem F2 means a temperature related fault such as a bad temp sensor / thermostat or a defect in the control board.

If it's just a microwave, then the problem is likely a failing keypad. In many cases, those can be replaced economically.

Thanks

Oven Temperature Probe

It could be your ignitor, if weak it might not be good enough to draw ampage.I would suggest to change both ignitor and temp probe to be in a safer side. part number for ignitor is 12872 $56.0+, Part # for your oven temp. sensor 833085, it should not be more than $28. other part from www.repairclinic.com.
