According to the manufacturer, "Use SAE 30 motor oil for best results. (For temperatures below 30° F, use SAE 10. For temperatures above 75° F, use SAE 40.) DO NOT use Bar & Chain oil." I will need the actual model number of your saw (it should be loacted on the saw it's self) to see if I can find the manual for you. I hope this helps so far...

I have a Remington 14' Limb n' Trim electric chainsaw. There is an oil reservoir (I think - it has a little rubber cap) and I am not sure if it is for motor oil. If it is, what type of oil should I use?

jmccabe2465-

The reservoir is for bar chain oil, which all chain saws require to allow the chain to operate smoothly and reduce heat build-up from friction.

Hope this helps.

The little rubber oil cap broke off from it's plastic base on my Remington 14" "Limb and trim". Where can I find a replacement? (I live in NY, but was hoping it is available on a website)

Without a model number I cannot be of more help.

An oil cap is part number “107512-01” (please verify this fits your saw).
Remington.com
http://shoppingcart.msservicecompany.com/Default.aspx
· Type "107512-01" into the “Search for your parts by Part #:” window, then click search.
A couple of clicks later is says; Part #: 107512-01; Price: $4.72; Description: OIL CAP WITH BULB.

MasterParts.net
http://www.masterparts.net/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=SRCH&Store_Code=MPD
Type “107512-01” in the Search For The Following Word(s): window. It returns 107512-03; $8.45 (3 each 107512-01s).

RemingtonPower is no longer in production. Eventually eBay will be the primary source of replace parts.

Plastic cog stripped remington

You provided no model number; you need it to find parts on the breakdown here:
Remington.com
http://shoppingcart.msservicecompany.com/Default.aspx
  • Type "YourModelNumber" into the "Search for your unit by Model:" window, then click search.
  • Click the “YourModelNumber” - Remington Electric Chain Saw "View Model" link.
  • Click “View Owners Manual” or "View Illustrated Parts Diagram" link.
  • Type "YourPartNumber" into the “Search for your parts by Part #:” window, then click search.

If it returns NLA try a part number search here, sometimes they still have the part.

Need manual for Remington Limb & Trim 8, Model #AQ53938. No problems, just lost the manual. Need to know oil weight, etc. Thanks.

I tried the numbers you provided and none crossed.
I went here:
Remington.com
http://www.desaparts.com/index.htm
  • Type "YourModelNo" into the "Model #:" window, then click search.
  • Click the YourModelNo - Remington Electric Chain Saw "View Model" link.
  • Click “View Owners Manual” or "View Illustrated Parts Breakdown" link.
The most complete owners manual is "M15012US (and several others)" viewed as explainewd above. Page 9 discusses oil weights. Standard bar oil is 30 weight non detergent with addatives to help it adhere to the bar. That would be my recommendation. HTH
