The first step in troubleshooting battery life or charging problems is to check your owner's manual or the manufacturer's website for how to interpret the status LEDs on the laptop. The LEDs on the laptop will change color or blink when there's a charging problem. The operating manual for the laptop or a search of the manufacturer's web site should tell you exactly what the LEDs are indicating.
If the LEDs indicate that the battery is being continually charged, yet the battery only lasts a short period of time, there's a good chance the battery is worn out or defective. Before giving up, perform one last test to determine if the operating system software is interfering with charging. Let the battery charge overnight with the AC adapter plugged in and the laptop turned off. If the battery won't take a charge with the laptop turned off, you can try powering on, entering CMOS Setup, and letting it sit and charge on the Setup screen for a few hours.
Even if the battery is healthy and the laptop charging system is working properly, the battery lifetime will be variable with how hard you work it. If you're in the habit of turning the screen brightness all the way up and choosing the highest performance battery management profile, the battery will run down much quicker than otherwise. You could change your battery management profile if needed. There are a number of predefined battery management profiles in the operating system, accessible through the little battery icon in the system tray.
The ambient room temperature and the temperature of the laptop (if you've left it in a hot car in the summer or a cold car in the winter) will affect the battery life as well.

Check what battery profile you're using by clicking the battery. See if one of the more conservative profiles will let the battery charge. Make sure all your drivers are up to date using Windows Update. Some power problems can be fixed this way.
The BlackBerry gives few profiles to choose from; e.g. Normal, Loud, Quiet, Vibrate.... my recommendation would be to configure each profile separately and just enable/disable the profile you like when you enter/exit your car...
The phone itself is not capable to switching the profile on its own once it is plugged in to your car charger...
I faced the same problem. Here is the detailed answer I received from Garmin support. It worked for me!
Please put the 305 on to charge. If the screen is blank, press and hold the Mode button and then press the Lap/reset button as well and hold them both for 2 or 3 seconds. After a few seconds you should see the "battery charging in progress" message. Then leave it to charge for 30 mins. While it is charging, download your training history to your PC.
Once it has charged for a while. Remove it from the charger and switch the unit off.
Press and hold the Mode button and then press the Lap/reset button as well and hold them both for 2 or 3 seconds.
Then press and hold the Mode button again and this time also press and hold the Power button. The unit should switch on and have a message on the screen saying ?Do you really wish to erase all user data?.Select YES and press enter. The unit will reboot and ask you some questions including if you have a heart rate and cadence sensor.
I then asked them again:
Before I do the 2nd step which resets the data, will it erase only the training data (tracks etc.), or also all the other user data like profile and such? If yes, are these can be backed up too?
Why is the complete reset required if the Edge is back to life? Do you suspect some data corruption or inconsistency?
And they replied:
The complete reset is required because this could occur again in a few days time. The complete reset will wipe everything including history, workouts, courses, user profile, data field settings and almanac data.
The first time you connect the GPS to your PC after doing the reset you will get a message saying that the profile on the device is different from the profile in the program. You will need to choose to keep the profile in the program which will then transfer your user profile back into the GPS from Training Center.
