press up arrow then down arrow or left arrow then right should fix the problem iv had my tv do this twice and is how I fixed it but took me a while to find the fix both times so posting this here because this is the first result in my searches so hopefully if it happens to me again I can remind my self by helping everyone else

Tries tv manual channels buttons up or down few times some analog tv will let go into the video mode.Not,try website like Remotes.com to buy the tv original remote.

try to switch to video mode on the TV

Look for 'FORMAT', 'ASPECT'. 'ZOOM', 'WIDE' button on your remote to change the ASPECT or PICTURE MODE.

did you try to switch the tv modes Ex. my tv has av 1 av 2 comp 1 comp 2 does it have those modes

here is how to set up without a code:

mode switch set to TV
PRESS & HOLD Mute and Select buttons at the same time UNTIL light blinks twice
enter 9911
keep pressing channel up until the channel changes on the tv
Maker sure to test the VOL button, if volume works
PUSH select key to set the code

THESE PROCEDURE CAN BE USED WHENEVER A REMOTE KEY IS NOT AVAILABLE.
CHANGE THE LAST NUMBER, 1 TO
2 for AUX1 (VCR and DVD)
3 for AUX2 (Audio Devices)

I have the same problem with a 6420ff sylvania tv with a xbox 360. I plug the red white yellow into the front of the tv and it wont come on.

go up to your TV and go into the menu. Go to the channel selection and run the auto select for channels. This will take some time but the TV will end off the first channel found, the only thing is you cannot get back into video mode without the remote
