The snow mode on my 1992 BMW 320i locks on

The auto locks into 4th gear in my 1992 BMW 320i, and remains there making it impossible to drive in town. Can the sensors, or auto be disconnected so as it can be used without this happening?

SOURCE: Beeping with no warning lights

Hi,

Based on some readings, the beeping sound indicates cold outside temperature. If that is not the case, then the sensor located behind the front bumper has its connector detached or may be faulty. Of course the owner's manual could provide more details.

Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

The first thing you need to check is for water contamination in the gearbox oil, if none try filling it with the correct procedure and reset adaptations, if there is water in the gearbox do not bother repairing it at a huge cost, they seldom get it right. Rather look for a good secondhand box that is the same make, the most common is the ZF6HP19

Check the obvious first - transmission fluid up to par? If ok refer to tranny expert since most new transmissions are electrically operated and complicated.

My bmw 320i auto transmission gears was working fine untill it was packed for two years, now the car goes reverse when it put on drive

Check the shifter linkage, and any bushings that may have deteriorated in the linkage. If that's not the problem, replace the transmission fluid and filter.
