Hi there anil! My name is Kimberly and I form part of the Social Media Department with DISH, It is my pleasure to assist you. When watching an already recorded event and having a timer set up to record it should not interrupt your viewing of that DVR event. When this happened, did you get an error message on the screen? And has this happened again? Please reach me at: [email protected] with the details.

SOURCE: Dish VIP 612 breaks up when playing back recorded shows.

Edy, I am not going to say that this is the definite issue but Dish only has receivers that are 1080i compatible at the time which will give you some blurring and possible pixellating. 1080p will resolve these issues in the future. Therefore if you still need help let me know.

SOURCE: Dvr not working. Won't record, pause rewind

Try unplugging the unit from the electrical outlet for about five minutes- much longer than required- and try it again. If this fails you will need a service technician to resolve the issue. Thanks for using Fix Ya.

SOURCE: Just got VIP722K DVR. How can I watch live tv

I talked to a smart customer service person last night and he fixed the problem. You have to go the the actual unit....this fix can not be done with the remote on the 722. One the front of the unit there are 2 panels that will open up when you push them. Open the one on the right and you will see a "MODE" button. Push the button and follow the on screen prompts using the arrow keys next to the "mode buttone" to go to single mode. Once you do this the 2nd TV will be forced to watch what is on the 1st TV but you will now be able to recored 2 things at once on TV1. This solution is only a problem if you are watching both tv's at the same time on separate channels.....if you are recording on one of the tv's and then try to change the channel on either of the tv's the channel will now change on both tv's. Sounds confusing but trust me....it fixed the problem.

I’m watching live TV and all of a sudden my DVR recording starts recording a show that I previously set a schedule for . I don’t want to stop or cancel the recording but I do want to continue watching live...

If it has dual tuners just change the channel and if not it needs to remain on that channel, sometime the set top will warn you about this before changing the channel. goo luck

Subtitles not working on humax recorder

Try switching subtitles Off, then On again. Otherwise a factory reset will normally restore the function. Note that a factory reset will not delete recordings, but you will need to retune and re-program timers

Dish changing channel to new recording while watching *pre-recorded* program

rjvdw,

Try unplugging the receiver for 10 seconds then plugging it back in, and see if the problem is resolved. The receiver should only switch if you are watching live TV instead of a recording.

If the problem persists, and you are for sure not on Live TV, the receiver may need to be replaced. If it continues you can send me an email at [email protected], and I can assist you further!

Can i watch tv on one tv while another person watch a recorded show at the same time?

Hey russ fenton,

On the 625 receiver; the Dual mode allows you to record in one room and watch live TV in the other or watch live in one room and a recording in the other.

Can you record a program and watch live TV at the same time?

If you have a dual receiver, you can record to TV 2 and watch any program on TV 1. If you have 2 recordings taking place at the same time, you can only watch what is being recorded.

With a dual receiver, you can place the receiver in single mode and watch a different program even if 2 recording are taking place. In single mode both TV 1 and TV 2 will be watching the same program.

A solo DVR you can record to tuner 2 and watch what you want on TV 1. With the VIP 622 receiver, you have the Record Plus option, you can have all recording go to TV 2. If 2 recordings take place, then TV 1 and TV 2 are used.

Cant record two programmes at once

Well no matter the DVR, you should be able to record 2 programs at once...but you CANNOT watch a 3rd live while they are recording...also, if your DVR is hooked up to more than one tv and someone is watching something else in the other room, it will not record 2 at once, either. You can watch RECORDED programming while 2 others are recording, but not live tv.
You might want to check how many "inputs" your DVR has...most have 2 which allows the double recording...if you have an older DVR maybe you only can do one at a time. On my DISH box, they call these "TV1" and "TV2".

Hope this helps.

We have Dish Network VIP722 on only one HD tv at this time. When recordng HD PPV, we are unable to change channels without getting message that recording will stop. Menu>Preferences>Record...

This is a problem that many have. If you are recording on TV1, and the receiver is in dual mode, then you are only able to watch what you record. But you can set your recording to TV1, and then put the receiver into single mode, and switch from the recording to live TV.

Unable to record show on the DVR

Try a hard reboot. Hold the power button on the box till it turns itself off. It will turn itself back on. After restarting try to record live tv. If you can't watch recorded shows either your harddrive may be fried. After thought, a $20 tv tuner card from e-bay for your computer, you could record them to your desktop.

Tivo and direct tv

No, unfortunately there is not. That tivo only has 1 tuner, so you can only record or watch 1 live program. You can however watch a pre-recorded program while recording a live program. If you have directv, you can step up and get their hr20 dvr. It's not a tivo by any means, but it has 2 tuners so you can record 2 things at once and watch a pre-recorded show. It takes a little while to get used to the interface, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty straightforward.

You can also get an older DVR w/ tivo (hr10) however, it will not get ANY of the new MPEG4 High Def channels that are out there.

If you have an hdtv, then you really should grab an hr20, give directv customer retention a call and ask what they can do for you. You'll need a new slimline dish and they'll come out install it and everything you need for watching off the new satellites and enjoying the new mpeg4 hd channels (the old hd channels are in mpeg2).

Good luck.
