Unable to adjust power level, the power level button on the control panel does not respond.

We are unable to adjust the Power Level on our new KitchenAid microwave. Once the cooking time is set, and start button is pushed, the cooking level button (when pushed) gives a P-10 reading. But the Power Level button will not respond when pushed to change the power level. I have followed the instructions in the owner manual for setting the power level, but cannot get the Power Level button to respond at all when following instructions in the manual. The microwave is brand new, and we are just learning to use the different features. Is this appliance defective?

Try pressing and adjusting the power level before setting the cook time, or maybe before pressing start. Worked on my Panasonic

I had the same problem. All you need to do is put in your cook time first, then adjust the power level. So time cook, whatever # of minutes, power level, then # power level. Hope this helps.

The first thing to try is a "hard reset". Unplug it from the power line for a minute, plug it back in, set the clock, then try again.

If you don't have your owner's manual, you can download it free from GE/Hotpoint.

SOURCE: Panasonic Model NN T964SF inverter

If the digital programmer circuit / controller does not get a feedback signal from the inverter for a period of 3 seconds, the controller will stop the cook cycle.

In most cases, this is a problem with the inverter or a bad magnetron.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

I would recommend that you contact your nearest Panasonic-authorized servicer.

Samsung Microwave power level - no button

As you didn't specify any specific model, one of the Samsung models uses this scheme to change power levels.

You begin by pressing the "Microwave" button once. Pressing it again will display different power levels, from low to high.

Magic Chef microwave model#mco165ub cant seem to turn up the power level. when I hit the power level button it cycles through -20, 0 and +20 but nothing happens when I hit enter.

Try unplugging the unit for a few minutes. The microprocessor on the control panel may have locked up. Leave it unplugged for at least 15 minutes to see if it will reset.

How do I change the power level?

This is from Page 16 in the users manual...

For simple, one-stage cooking, you only need to set the cooking time. The power level is automatically set to High.

If you want to set the power level to any other level, use the Power Level button.
1. Use the number buttons to set a cooking time. You can enter a time from one second to 99 minutes and 99 seconds. To select a time greater than one minute, enter the seconds too. (For example, to set a cooking time of 20 minutes, enter 2, 0, 0, 0.)

2. If you want to set the power level to a level other than High, press the Power Level button, and then use the number buttons to enter the power level.

3. Press the ENTER/START button to begin cooking. If you want to change the power level, press the STOP/ CLEAR button before you press the ENTER/START button, and then enter all the instructions again.

Power 100 code

you must try this:God bless you
If you are unable to adjust the power level, there may be a defective triac or a problem with the circuit board.

  1. Controller is confusedA power surge or random non-reproducible action of the universe may have resulted in the controller's program ending up in an infinite loop. Pull the plug for a minute or two to reset it.
  2. Defective Interlock switchesThis can result in the controller thinking the door is open and ignoring you.
  3. CleaningCleaning solutions (spray cleaner) may have gotten inside and shorted out the touchpad or controller. If this happens remove the touchpad, let it air dry for a few days, and then attach it back on the microwave.

Everything works fine, except my food is still cold

Check the "power" level setting.

Most microwaves allow adjusting the power level from 1 to 10 (or 10 to 100 on some models). 10 (or 100) is the highest/quickest setting.

I can check mine by entering a time...then before pushing "start"....push the "power" button....and change the level if I want.

Power level

Hi cindeet,

I don't have this particular model, but have experience with other GE stoves & ovens. Looking at the control panel for an Advantium 120 at the link below,

http://www.geappliances.com/products/introductions/advantium/downloads/advantium_brochure.pdf

I'd start by pressing the "Power/Temp" button, and then turn the knob to select which power level.

There is also a Help menu shown (upper left corner of the photo I'm looking at - page 4 of the PDF document referenced above.

Let me know how this works for you - thanks in-advance.

How do i adjust the power level?

Hi Cindeet,

(I just responded, but it doesn't show-up - - my apologies if this comes thru twice).

Looking at the brochure at

http://www.geappliances.com/products/introductions/advantium/downloads/advantium_brochure.pdf

on page 4, there's a control panel with the "Power/Temp" button - try pressing this, then using the knob to select the power level you want.

There's also a "Help" function - - upper right-hand side of the control panel.

Let me know how this worked for you - thanks in-advance.

Microwave issues

Is it like someone is pushing the Power or Power Level pad?

If so, I would say your keypad is failing with a shorted Power (or Power Level) pad.

If you might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved. It's at http://www.microwavedisplay.com/keypad_replacement.pdf

We have critical safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

There should also be a very helpful "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel.

If you would like to have us do this for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.
