i had the same problem what i did was conect a optical cable from the tv to my surround sound and hit the viera link button then i was able to change from tv speakers to home theater which automatically turned on my surround system and set it on the right mode to work cool feature now i dont even need all my contro i can turn on my ps3 and surround system with my tv control
I sugest you to change the video resolution settings on the PS-3 to see if TV sets to any one resolution...if you have any other video out (analog from PS3)...connect the out to TV and check video at different resolutions. If PS3 has Deep Color settings turn it OFF.
do you wan the suround sound to play sound for what the tv is displaying or just the ps3
for just ps3
connect hdmi to ps3 and tv connect optical to ps3 and suround sound change video settings to hdmi change sound settings to optical it asks to set settings automatically you have tyo doo it manually
if you want to play every thing that tv displays then connect ps3 to tv with hdmi connect suround sound with hdmi to tv (this might not work) if it dont work then
connect ps3 to tv with hdmi and your tv should have sound out or something along those lines it should be two phono plugs in the back of the tv connect that to the suround sound
If your tv and surround has an optical input/output.Then you can connect with an optical lead. This will then play the sound from whatever you are watching. You normaly select dig1 or input1 on the surround system.
what other connectors your surround system has for audio in you mention no optical what about digital in? is a black connector like rca your tv may have one and all you need is one single rca cable from tv to surround system
Unfortunately only the higher end Onkyo Reciever pass audio over HDMI for sound. 605,705,805,905 exc. Your reciever will carry Video over HDMI but you will need a digital optical cable for sound.
