It has either come loose inside which is tightenable by removing steering wheel and tightening the screws or it has come loose on the outside which also our tightenable by taken off the cover

sounds like the battery in your key is dead or something like that. Call a Home Depot near you and see if they can cut you a key for your vehicle (have year make model and vin number handy) if your vehicle has security/ immobilizer then you MUST make sure that hope depot cuts you the correct key with the built in transponder. This COULD be your problem, it is my educated diagnosis without having seen or scanned the car. Im here if you need help. Good luck!!

I have 1998 Chrysler Sebring convertable, sometimes the entry system prevents it from starting. I remove the trim from the dash and steering coluum and it will start. I replace it and it will start...

As it could be so many things I always like to start at the easiest and work back. If there has been any stereo modifications I prob know what the issue is. Behind the center console there is a starter relay. The relay is the one to the far right. Next to it on the left is the door lock power relay. The wires run into the steering column and the wire is prob grounding out. Hope this helps

Check the connections to your Shift Interlock switch. The brake pedal ever has a switch on it that has to be pressed to supply the go ahead for the starting circuit.
