you will have to add an ethernet card to your emachine if it will take one, or you might be out of luck

SOURCE: Black screen on my desktop, and connect pins are broken & bent

You'll get either no signal or missing color(s) if pins are bent or missing.

Carefully bend pins back with small needle-nose pliers. Pin 9 is missing by default - if any other pins are missing or broken, you'll need an expert to wire a new VGA plug.

Need driver CD for HP3740

Hi

The printer doesn't support windows 98. supported systems are:

» Microsoft Windows Vista
» Microsoft Windows Vista (64-bit)
» Microsoft Windows XP
» Microsoft Windows XP x64
» Microsoft Windows 2000
» Mac OS X
» Mac OS 9
» Linux

Drivers are available at this page below:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=401496&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&submit.y=3&submit.x=8&lang=en&cc=us

Note that there are no drivers for 98 and it won't be simple to get the printer to work with the 98.. I would recommend upgrading to 2000 or windows xp. if your computer is from 1998 it might be better to buy a new computer.

Todays printers don't work with 10 year old computers anymore.

linux would work on the computer for sure, and so would the printer but using linux is quite complex, you would need to get someone to install it for you and make it look as much like windows as possible, its a whole new system..

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks,
Ekse

Dont know how to connect speakers to computer? three different places the connection fits . but no sound from any?

It is the light green jack. Make sure the mute button isn't on by clicking the 'speaker icon' in the task bar and making sure the mute button isn't checked.

Boot up

You may try "Last Known Good Configuration"

Boot the operating system with the “Last Known Good Configuration” feature. To use this:
  1. Restart your computer.
  2. When you hear a single beep or after the bios has read your hardware settings press [F8], this will display the “Windows Advanced Options” menu.
  3. Select Last Known Good configuration and press enter key.
Let me know.

Thanks.
