The capacitorson the FMT board have failed, which will cause that symptom. Is the menu screen clear when you hit menu?

SOURCE: Red and Green vertical lines (pinstripes) on video source only!

I have fixed many of these TVs and don't reccomend that inexperienced or untrained consumers attempt any repairs. You may hurt yourself, others or the TV.

It sounds like it may still be convergence. Look in Convergence Gallery.

If not convergence, tap the crt boards gently from different directions. (through the front inspection panel) Tap the crt necks gently as well. Tap with the plastic handle of a long screw driver, don't use the metal end to tap or probe with. Watch the picture for microphonic effect, pic "jumps or changes" when you mechanically tap.

The TV is on and operating so the possibility of lighting yourself up exists. Tapping or probing is done with the plastic end of the screwdriver, one handed. You can't be holding the frame of the tv with your other hand, or sitting on a tangle of cables that connect the 3 vcrs, 2 games, laptop and FTA sat receivers.

Do not ever touch any innards with your bare hand when the TV is plugged in, unless you know specifically that the item/control or whatever is safe to touch. Turned off is not good enough as all modern TVs are still partially operating in the "off" mode.

Do not play with the other items on the CRT neck as many hours of time may be wasted re-aligning.

If the picture jumps or reacts to the tapping turn the power off. Unplug the TV.

There are a number of conditions that may exist.

1. CRT is defective with internal Heater cathode leakage or other fault. Typical shop estimate CRT +$300, Labor $2-400 Handling extra. JVC CRTs are rarely defective.1time/100 complaints

2. Circuit on CRT board is defective. Usually the only defect is poor solder connections. Bad solder connections 1 time/10 complaints
Typical shop estimate CRT Board +$150, Labor $2-400 Handling extra

3. Pins on CRT are dirty, corroded or loose in the CRT board socket. A poor electrical connection occurs between one or more crt pins and the socket on the CRT board. Tapping and moving the board makes and breaks the electrical contact and the pix jumps (for that color)

This is the most likely problem if it is not convergence. 9/10

The fix is simple.

Use a very small jewellers screwdriver with a flat blade. Scratch the corrosive coating off the crt pins one at a time. Start at one pin and work your way around the base of the crt. Just a minor, gentle scratching that does not bend the pins. The corrosion may coat the pins and appears as black or grey varnish instead of metallic.

After scratching the pins, each pin is bent the smallest noticeable amount outwards. Then the crt board and socket is re-installed. It will now fit tight and require some wobbling back and forth to re-install. If any serious resistance is encountered stop immediately and examine the bent pins, one or more is bent too far.

Forcing the socket on the crt when a pin is mis-aligned can break the pin or crush it against the centre. If you damage a pin, crt is junk.

Only attempt repair on the the crt socket giving problems. Preventative maintenance is not a good idea in this situation.

If cleaning and bending the pins doesn't fix, then check CRT PC board for bad solder connections on the crt socket/board connections. (circular pattern)

If you live around Calgary, call me , if not, find someone competent.

I have evenly spaced, rows of two vertical green and red lines from top to bottom of my vizio plasma P50HDTV10A

Somehow when switching between the tv and the dvd my wife encountered the pink and green, thin, parallel, vertical lines on the screen. The picture was visible with the lines. I turned the tv off and on but the problem persisted. Unplugged tv for about two minutes and after plugging it back in and turning it on the vertical lines very gone and the picture was back to normal.

Green horizontal lines on screen no picture

The green CRT's (color picutre tube or color wheel, or ballast) will need to be tested for replacement.
It is quite common with these tv's

You will need an ohmmeter and or voltmeter and test each component for currency and accuracy

No picture

Sound like you lost Vertical Deflection.  Youshould not have a line across the screen because this could destroy the threeCRT Red, Green, and Blue (Picture tubes) if left on to long. There is a protection circuit built in to protect your CRT’s.    Check on the PCB-SIGNALboard (Tuner located on this board) transistors Q-206 Collector should be around 1 Volt Base and Emitter 0V. If the voltage atthis point is greater then 5 Volts the Vertical output IC-401 (Mounted on heat sink 7 pin inline IC) is bad, Part # LA7845.  Pin Voltages should be PIN 1= 0V, 2= 34V, 3= 32V, 4= 3V, 5= 3V, 6= 33v, 7= -6V.  Data sheet located at http://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/view/40357/SANYO/LA7845.html

Vertical lines across my entire screen

My 42" Samsung Plasma HDTV HP-R4252 has a 2" vertical strip of green pixels down the right side of the screen.

My 3 year warranty with Circuit City expires in Nov 2008.. so I hope I'm covered.. can't call until the morning.

Samsung said it might be a logic board problem.. but they want almost $2000 to fix. I might as well buy another TV if Circuit City can't fix it.

Mitsubushi vs4541 red, blue, green vertical lines no picture, very good sound

Try soldering the vertical output IC, sound without picture usually means vertical output is either defective or has bad solder joints. Does your on screen displays work when you press menu?
