LOL Good luck. I think the best--least expensive thing you can do is go buy a Pawnshop computer with WinXP on it and use it exclusively for this purpose

Sad as it seems - I think you're right :)

I've seen this happen a lot. One would think that the programmers for these would make them as fast as the computer Operating system upgrades.

Why won't the embroidery program won't open in Windows 8?

Not all embroidery design software programs are compatible with Windows 8. Embroiderers have a lot of great programs that haven't been upgraded to use with anything higher than Windows XP-Vista. You didn't mention which program you're trying to install, but if it's one that you once used on an early OS, and you're trying to install the same version on Win 8, most likely that's the issue. Check with the software support to see if there's an upgrade available.

I bought a new computer with Windows 8 & now my dongle is not recognized, why?

I tried the Husqvarna Viking dongle drivers for 4D VIP Customizing software on a new Windows 8.1 system, but nothing worked. (It worked fine on my old Vista system). After a few weeks of frustration, I found this site : http://www.safenet-inc.com/support_and_downloads/Download_Drivers/Sentinel_Drivers/.
I downloaded the Sentinel Driver v7.5.8 (they work for Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003/2008/2012/Vista & Windows 7&8 (32 bit and 64 bit)), installed it, restarted my computer, and everything worked like a charm.
Somebody should tell Husqvarna about those drivers...

Have a window7 laptop and cannot download software for futurases2000 so know i hve a embrodiary machine jhat i can't use please help disappionted

Do you have the original disk for the Futura software? Which version of the software do you have? Do you have the 32-bit or the 64-bit version of Windows 7? (To check your version, click Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System. If you see x64 at the end of the OS version, then you have the 64-bit version. Otherwise you have the 32-bit version of Windows 7.)

For the Futura SES-2000 version 3 software:
If you have the original CD, then do you have an optical drive in the laptop? If you do not have an optical drive, you should get an external one (USB connection); these can be gotten for ~$50 or less. (Make sure to have the laptop on AC power when installing software.)

You should be able to start the installation of the Futura software from the CD. For details on the 64-bit install: http://www.futura-support.com/files/Futura%2064bit%20Installation.pdf . In the 64-bit install, you will click OK on several error messages. Then download and install the patch from http://futura-support.com/downloads/updates/Ver3_0_0_9.exe .

For older versions of the software, there are a few options, you could upgrade to version 2.5 or you can maintain a computer with an older version of Windows. (See http://www.futura-support.com/downloads/ce150.html and the Service Updates links in the lower left hand corner.) For the older version of Windows, you can keep a second machine with that OS, a dual boot computer with the OS, or a virtual computer with the older version. If you have Win7 Pro or Ultimate or upgrade to one of them, then you can run a virtual copy of XP for free. Download and install in order: Microsoft's Virtual PC and the XP mode software. Then install your Futura software to the XP computer (as if it were regular OS) and connect the sewing machine and transfer the files for your embroidery. There are other virtual computer programs (Parallels and VMWare). However, XP mode is the only way to avoid needing a licensed version of the older Windows OS.

I hope this helps.

I have a ce-100 futura sewing machine that will not work with windows 7 what do i need to do to fix this problem

The Futura software and the machine drivers exist for Windows 98, NT, 2000, ME, or XP. If you have Win7 32-bit, you may be able to run in the compatibility mode. Load the CD into the optical drive, then right click on the .exe file on the CD. Then choose Properties. Select the Compatibility tab and check Run this program in the compatibility mode. Click Apply and OK. Then right click again and choose Run as Administrator. This isn't guaranteed to work since the changes in the OS are significant.

To check if you have Win7 32-bit or the 64-bit version, click Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System. The title will say Windows 7 (Version) for a 32-bit OS. It will read Windows 7 (Version) x64 for the 64-bit version of the OS.

If you have the 64-bit OS or the compatibility mode doesn't work, you need a computer running an older version of Windows. This can be a second computer, a dual-boot computer (where you select your OS at startup) or a virtual computer (that runs inside the real computer). If you have Win7 Pro or Ultimate or upgrade to one of those versions, you can create a virtual XP computer for free. Download and install Virtual PC and XP mode from Microsoft. Install them in order. Then install the XP software from the above site in the virtual computer and it will work. (Other virtual computer programs are Parallels and VMWare.) All of the other options will require a licensed version of the older Windows OS.

I hope this helps.

(The last person I dealt with with the issue of an embroidery machine not talking to Windows 7 kept their old Windows XP computer just to work with the sewing machine. Fortunately the old computer was still working enough to use for the purpose.)

I have a new windows 7 computer and want to use my white 4400 embroidery machine on it. How do I load a new driver for my machine?

Unfortunately, it seems that the company that bought the White brand (SVP) has no interest in creating new drivers for the machine. Is your computer running the 32-bit or the 64-bit version of Windows 7? (Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System. If you see x64, you have the 64-bit version.)

If you have the 32-bit version, you can try the compatibility mode. With the White USB drive connected to the computer, right click on the installer instead of normally running the installer. Then choose Properties and then the Compatibility tab. Turn on Run program as Compatible with the appropriate OS. Then right click again on the installer and choose Run as Administrator. Then check if the program itself is running in the compatibility mode by right clicking again and choosing Properties.

A method that will work is to use a computer (virtual, dual-boot, or true second machine) with an older version of Windows installed. If you have Win7 Pro or Ultimate, you can create a virtual XP computer for free. Download and install Virtual PC and XP mode from Microsoft. Install them in order. Then install the XP software that came with the sewing machine in the virtual computer and it will work. (Other virtual computer programs are Parallels and VMWare.) All of the other options will require a licensed version of the older Windows OS.

I hope this helps.

I have memory craft 950.computer crashed and had to relace- now have windows 7 and can not install my cstomiser 10000 plus (ver1.0

There are software updates for the Customizer 10000. See: http://content.janome.com/index.cfm/LearningCenter/Software_Updates . Drivers and installers have changed over time.

I do not know the limitations of the update software.

I hope this helps.

(The other thing to try is the compatibility mode. This may work directly - right click on the installer and choose Properties. Then choose the compatibility tab and set the Program to always run as compatible with XP. Then right click again and choose Run as Administrator. If this doesn't work, another option is to run a second computer with an older version of Windows. You can use a true second computer, a dual boot computer or a virtual computer (which takes a portion of memory from the main computer but doesn't require a restart). If you have Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate, you can create a virtual XP computer for free. Download and install Virtual PC and XP mode from Microsoft. The other options require a valid Windows license for the older OS. Install your Customizer in the older OS as you would normally install the software.)

You will have to maintain an XP computer or buy new software there is no fix for your problem. It's the electronic age the old software was written for the XP operating system. When MS changed the operating system Husqvarna Viking had to design new software it's that simple.Don't blame the manufacturer Microsoft made the changes that created the problem. www.sewvac.com
