there's a free manual for a 268 model available through the Singer website, strange as it may seem. (In fact you can find free manuals for many White brand sewing machines via the Singer website.)

Look under Singer's "Support and Resources" then select "Instruction manuals" , or follow this link: http://www.singerco.com/support/instruction-manuals

On the Instructions Manual page you'll see it says "Find Your Manual - Step 1, Step 2 etc etc" and under that there's a search box that says "Model Number"

Into this search box just type "w"
(don't type "white", because that doesn't work)

You'll be taken to a near incomprehensible results page but scroll down and you'll see there's one listed as "W268"

I talked to custom service at White Sewing Company at 800-331-3164 and they directed me to a website to download the manual for free. Go to www.singerco.com and search for "wsl734" (white superlock 734). It probably has other manuals but I wouldn't have known what model number to search if she hadn't told me.

You can download White manuals from Singer. Just go to http://www.singerco.com/accessories/manuals.html and type W in the search box. The next page will be a list of White machines with manuals available. They may not have the exact model (as in my case), but there will be a similar one. I had to email White-Viking to be redirected to Singer....
