You need a NEW Battery, and I also wonder if your Wall supply hasn't gone faulty too, you must swap out for a known good, i mean that;s all one can do. It does sound like your battery is definitely no good, you will have to test the adapter, with the battery removed, the PC, should work FINE, for as long as you want to use it.

Type in model name and # and the words replacement battery in Amazon or e-bay search window.

Possibly you just need a new power supply/battery charger. There is nothing "magic" about the original power supply. Take the player into an electronics supply shop. They should be able to look at it and match
Voltage In Voltage Out Power requirement (milliWatts or Watts) Connector Type Polarity (center of plug positive or negative)

2.5 Hour Battery Life - Average of 4 Hour Charge time (To ensure longest battery life possible)

You can get an universal AC Adapter such as the one sold at Radio Shack. The specifications should be 9 to 12 volts and at least 800 miliamps with the center tip being positive - this is reversible on universal adapters. A decent adapter should cost between $10.00 - $15.00.
Make sure that you plug in the charger on the battery pack, not on the 12 volts input from the PD-3070 - This is use only to power up the player, it won't charge the battery.

I think you mean the "charge/power" light doesn't come on? One thing I've noticed on the PD-758LP I have, is that the power connector on the back of the player is none too good, my DVD player quits if the cable isn't set just...right... Try moving the power cable around on the back and see if it lights-up briefly. I suspect problems with that connector first.
