Janome 6500 will only stitch one stitch each time I press the peddle

I have a Janome 6500. I was free motion sewing when my machine suddenly would only do one stitch at a time ( will only do a stitch each time I press the peddle) I have tried turning off the machine, cleaned all the fluff out of the bobin area, made sure the machine is plugged in properly. There are no threads caught in the hook or anywhere else. Maureen Price [email protected]

Janome 6500 Sewing Machine. CORRECT TENSION ON 6500 JANOME SEW MACHINE please.

Question edited for clarity.
Please don't type in all CAPS, it is considered SHOUTING and is harder to read.

Sewing machine tension is a delicate tug of war between the bottom Bobbin tension and the Upper tension to put the loop between the 2 layers of fabric. You set the Bobbin tension first and the the top tension depends on the fabric and the thread used.

Your Bobbin tension is very very loose to be not tensioning at all or the top tension is too loose.

My Janome 8900 is suddenly sounding clunky, and is jerky when I free motion quilt. The straight stitch still looks good.

Do you clean and oil your machine regularly? When I FMQ, I usually need to put a drop of oil on the hook every time I change a bobbin otherwise it gets really clunky.

I have been given janome 525s the material not feeding through the foot. Unless i pull material it wont move

Make sure the feed dogs have not been dropped, ie for darning or free motion quilting. Also, make sure the stitch length is set high enough to actually create a forward stitch.

Janome Memory Craft 8200QC Horizon. Can you get a stitch regulator? How does it work? Does it help to free motion stitch ?

You should check with a Janome dealer if your machine can use a stitch regulator. Machines that take a stitch regulator need the ability to plug into the machine, which is not available on a lot of machines unless they have the stitch regulator function. A stitch regulator helps some people. It still takes a lot of practice moving the fabric smoothly.

On my BSR, it has an "eye" that measures the distance the fabric moves under the presser foot so it can stitch at the specified distance. The faster the fabric moves, the faster it stitches, but the stitches tend to more uniform in length.

FWIW, I read a summary of the Janome 8200 QC Horizon and there was no mention of a stitch regulator.

Do i have adjust tension when free motion quilting on janome 6125

No but need free motion foot, FMQ is A bit of an art, slow hands and even stitching. Doing a class is a great way to learn as stipple quilting looks great but takes practice.

Janome 2030 QDC How to predict whether the buttonhole (24) will start forward or backward? I power off the machine and reselect stitch 24 and move the buttonhole presser foot to the start position every...

does it sew buttonholes both ways?

My Janome 6500 always buttonholes away from me, so when it starts, it sews the near bartack, then stitches backwards down the right hand side of the buttonhole. It then comes back with little straight stiches on other side and sews the zigzag backwards on the left side, then the far bar tack. I would have thought your Janome would do the same stitch sequence.

I have a memory craft 9000 and it has just started sewing by itself..........HELP what can I do??

When it starts sewing by itself, unplug the foot control. If it stops sewing, then the problem is in the foot control.
