Control board and wiring harness which are supposed to replace Frigidaire 242000406 are apparently not correct. I have now installed 2 of the new control boards and I am unable to get any power to the fridge. When I plug the old board back in, I have power but receive a communication errors and the relay on the board clicks ever 2 seconds (most likely bad). There must be a wiring problem but I can't find a print for the replacement control board 5303918498.

Jason, Did you ever get this fixed. I literally have the identical problem.

  • Jasan Dunlop Sep 04, 2013

Bob, I have been speaking with the distributor who sent me the replacement boards. The boards, or cables are definitley incorrect, as the distributor has 4 other customers with the exact same problem. Frigidaire has been very slow to respond and the response was "the correct replacement parts are in the box". We waited 3 weeks for a solution before we purchased a new Samsung refrigerator and moved the 3 year old Frigidaire to the garage (we'll wait for a solution and sell it, or use it for the ice maker and beer storage). If you want to pile on with our problem at the distributor level, the distriutor I've been dealing with is Appliance Parts Pros. This organization has been fantastic on so many levels (technically, customer service, communication).

Bob, I have the same fridge, and yes, it all started with 5YCE error. When the 2 boards didn't fix the problem I ordered and installed a couple of power relays in the bad board, thinking they were the problem. My symptoms changed, but this only proves that there are bigger problems on the board. It's too bad these old boards aren't available anywhere. I would imagine that they could be rebuilt rather cheaply but i haven't looked into this as of yet.

I was getting ready to trash the Frigidaire due the the replacement of 3 controls boards and not experiencing any changes, well, there were changes, the fridge wouldn't power up at all. Did some additional research prior to trashing the fridge and found some recent feedback regarding the need to replace the electrical control board at the same time as the power control board. Electrical control board PN is 241973711 and this is the user interface board where you would program fridge/freezer temp etc. I replaced this board, installed the new power control board, which gave me problems initially, and to my surprise, the fridge came back to life. So, if you end up having the 5YCE error, order/replace both boards. Wish I knew this a year ago. would have saved me a $1800 fridge replacement. Happy with the new one (Samsung 33cu/ft) and will never......ever, buy another Frigidaire product. The customer service was less than useless and Appliancepartspros.com never got any feedback from them either.

Hello Gentlemen;

My name is Peter; I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

The two of you are on the right track.

The board that you replaced;

control board and wiring harness which are - 19294535-2wop33oc00rzrbarpm5t54vf-3-0.jpg
Substitution: 5303918498
The electronic control board controls the major electro-mechanical components in the refrigerator. When the electronic control board senses the compressor needs to run to cool the refrigerator, it sends voltage to the compressor and fans. It then receives input from temperature sensors to monitor the temperatures inside the refrigerator and freezer sections.

This is a substitution and can not communicate with your existing electrical control board. You need tor replace this board was well:

Substitution: 241973711 Cost: $83.00

The electronic control board 241973711 controls the major electro-mechanical components in the refrigerator. When the electronic control board senses the compressor needs to run to cool the refrigerator, it sends voltage to the compressor and fans.

When you plugged in your old board and got power, that is because the two boards were communicating.

When you change the board be careful to ground yourself by touching something that is bare metal. Static electricity will knock out a board.

The Electrolux Frigidaire Refrigerator is a good unit. It should last you 20-30 years. If you want a unit that is in constant repair, buy either a Samsung or LG. They have the highest failure and repair cost of all of the manufacturers.

I am having the same problem. I installed a 5303918498 control board to replace a 242000406 which I believe is defective, but I get no power at all to the refrigerator model FPHS2699KF0. Has anyone found an answer to this problem? Please post if you have. My fridge is only 4 years old but has had increasing problems since the first year, but Frigidaire has not been helpful.

Jason, Thanks for response, Really appreciate it, Likewise I have tried 2 control boards with exact same results. No power. Did your problem start out with a 5YCE error? Thats how mine started. Was sporatic. It could be reset by unplugging and replugging. Then the last time, it pulsed with flashing display board, and was dead. I Think that its pretty poor that my refrigerator was only 4 years old. It is a Frigidair Gallery LGHS2665KF0, any similarities?
Please post your results when/if you get a solution.
I will likely be forced to purchase a new one as well, Not a Frididair of course.

I was able to fix the problem by replacing both the power control board under the fridge (using the jumper harness') as well as the control board behind the LED display above the water/ice dispenser. Replacing either one seperately did not correct the problem, but both together, it started back up good as new. I hope this will work for you. Thanks

The SN number FPHS2687KF0 for the Frigidaire only works with the upgrade kit 5303918498 of the lower control board PanelAKA -A01165005,with the upper control board display Panel (order this)Substitution: 241973711.

When you change the lower control board 242000406 , you also change the wiring with the upgrade kit, which causes the top control board not to communicate with the lower , hence you have no power on the Fridge.

One workaround people could do is replace the capacitors Yageo 35v470UF, SC 105 ‘Con the lower control board. If you have the tools , it should only cost you $10 for the capacitor. When capacitors go bad, they tend to bulge upward, where they should be flat.

I have informed the folks at appliancepartspros.com, hopefully they will put a bulletin out that shows you have to buy the bottom control panel with the top control board.

Thank would guide me about this problem: my freezer frigidaire ffu17f5hwd tells me E8, referred this error

Good Afternoon edgar corro, thanks for your post!
Based off the information you have provided your Frigidaire freezer is displaying an error code "E8". An "E8" error code typically stands for a shorted thermistor this could be a possible miscommunication with the wiring harness, control board, or thermistor. Since it could be anyone of these underlying issues I would suggest contacting a professional technician since they have the appropriate tools to pinpoint the parts needed for repair. Best of luck! -Matt

Alarm go on with no apparent reason

Thank you for your post, michael!

I see that the alarm inside your Frigidaire freezer continues to beep it sounds like a potential issue within your control panel or thermistor. Your alarm will beep to inform you that the inside of your freezer is reaching high temperatures. Performing a reset on your appliance could help correct the problem, to perform a reset you need to unplug your freezer or flip the household circuit breaker off for ten minutes. I hope this has been helpful. -Matt

Some lights do not work on control panel of RS261mdrs. Circuit board was replaced under warranty but has apparently failed again. How do I remove/replace the circuit board, do not see how to remove the...

For removal of the panel, there are 2 friction retainers which can be accessed from below. You have to push them up with a small flat-blade screw driver, then gently pull the panel out. You will likely need to use a knife edge to get the panel started out.
You will need to disconnect the wiring plug once the panel is free.
The circuit board may be removed by removing 4 phillips head screws.

Frigidaire ffu1767fwo (power spike) does not turn on can it be fixed

Hello tom97420 - Was the freezer unplugged during the power outage? It is best to be unplug unit and wait for the power to come back on, turn control to off, plug the unit in and reset control to factory suggested setting. Do not open freezer door unnecessarily if freezer is off for several hours. Make sure the freezer plug is tightly pushed into electrical outlet and not plugged into a GFI. Is the temperature control in the OFF position? Set temperature controls to proper setting suggested by owners guide or set to the halfway point and adjust it up or down as needed. If any suggestions are ineffective, contact a professional to move forward accurately. From what you have described the power loss could have possibly caused a communication problem with the control board, temperature control or wiring harness.

FAULT F11

The F11 error code indicates a communication failure between the main control board and the power board. This includes both boards & the wiring harness as potential defective components. However, this is usually the main machine control board that needs replaced.
