LG dishwasher I have just installed an LG dishwasher. When I try to run the dishwasher it sounds as if it is getting no water. I checked the water supply line twice, and nothing is blocking it. The line is attached to the hot water under the sink and is open.

Yes, the dishwasher is brand new.

  • jnielson Sep 05, 2007

I filled the tub but the water did not drain. It is making the same sound (pumping)but is not moving the water.

Why is it draining in the sink?

I bought a stainless steel Lg less than 15 months ago for 800.00and it stopped working. The manufacture said so sorry even though you didn't take delivery until the end of Jan. your warranty goes by purchase date. I would of been better of with a maytag.

I have an LG dishwasher and this is just the beginning of your problems. My suggestion is take it back while you can and buy a dishwasher worth your hard earned money. LG makes junk!

Does it a brand new dishwasher ?

  • Anonymous Sep 05, 2007

Fill water manually into the tub and operate the dishwasher (empty).
    - Does it drain the water out ?
    - Does it start filling water after draining ?

  • Anonymous Sep 06, 2007

Since water doesn't drain out ,it could be a clogged in the drain line or the filter.

Installation

Hi

Please follow LG instrcutions for installation of your dishwasher, check the Installation manual--

LG Dishwasher Installation Manual

· You should have at least four feet of wire free at the end of the line where the dishwasher will be installed.
· Prepare the water connections. Use a proper compression fitting water supply hose.
· Remove any protective shipping packaging or screws.
· Cover any exposed wires with electrical tape.
· Check the water supply and drain hose for any leaks.

Hope this helps...

Hooked up new dishwasher and no water to it when turn it on.

Sounds like you're a real DIY (do-it-yourselfer)....great!

Try these steps:

Turn off the water supply valve to the dishwasher. Disconnect the water to the fill valve. Place a shallow pan under the water line and open the water valve slowly. If you have water flowing up to this point, check the power to dishwasher. If no water, check the water supply and anything that might keep water from flowing.

If you have water, then look at the inlet screen to the water fill valve. Sometimes, when a new water supply is hooked up, some sedimentation occurs and gets into the inlet screen at the water valve. Check this and clean it out as needed. Not all units have these screens.

Make sure you have removed any shipping plugs or other items that could prevent the unit from operating.

NewDishwasher LG LDS 4821 WW Normal cycle

The new energy efficient LG dishwashers take 2 hours from start to finish depending on water temp. Run your hot water at the sink prior to starting the unit.

I see all the time inproper loading of the dishwasher blocking the sray arms.

Put 1 teaspoon of detergent in the soap dish.
Run the unit without anything in it.
If the soap washes out the unit is ok.

Also here some improtant info. that often gets overlooked when a new dishwasher is installed.

Replace the water supply valve under the sink and water supply line to dishwasher.
Over time minerals deposit in the valve and restrict the water flow to the dishwasher.
This is especially inportant on todays water saving units.
Many people replace an old dishwasher and hate the new unit due to a white film left on dishes.

Although you may have paid for a professional installation a new shut off valve is almost never replaced even though the waterline may have been at an additional cost to you..

Never installed a dishwasher. Want to give it a try. Ha a LG LDF6920ST.. Any advice?

For water supply, use a braided stainless steel flexible dishwasher supply hose with 3/8 compression ends on each side and a 3/8 male NPT x 3/8 compression elbow adapter. There is a tee with 3/8 female compression x 3/8 male compression x 3/8 male compression which can be used between the hot water shut off valve and the supply tube to the kitchen sink faucet to get your hot water with no significant plumbing work. Make sure the drain hose does not run straignt down back to the dishwasher. (put a loop up to make sure no dirty water tries to go back to the dishwasher.) If installing drain to a disposer drain port, make sure the knock out plug has been removed. It's also easiest if the floor under the dishwasher is at the same hight as the rest of the floor in the kitchen. Make sure wire nut connections are tight for electrical.

It always seems like it never gets enough water to even make the spray arms work. I have even tried to make sure I am not running any hot water in the house. It is about 7 months old and has always acted...

Sounds to me as if there is a blockage in the water line supplying the dishwasher or a kink in the water line supplying the unit. Since the water is supplied from the angle stop under the sink there could be blockage at that point. What I would suggest is to remove the water line at the angle stop under the sink then remove the water line from the dishwasher and blow through the line to see if any debris is in the water line itself. Also there is a filter screen at the water silenoid valve that stops debris from getting into the valve this screen is inside the water valve right at the front of the connection you might also look to see there isn't any debris at that point. Good Luck on repairs hope this has helped.

No water in washing/rinse cycle of dishwasher

It sounds as if the warter inlet valve (solinoid) isn't working and might have to be replaced. If everything else opeates fine, (unit pumps and sprays water that you added to it, pumps out and drains OK, then it is very likely the inlet valve has failed.

You can check for a blockage in the water inlet line, but unless you have a lot of sediment in your water or use a private well for your water supply, that would be a remote possibility, but worth taking a look at before buying replacement parts, etc.

You can remove the water supply hose/line and check for proper water flow and see if there is anything blocking the water from getting into the dishwasher. Many uints have a filter screen installed in them, so check that to see if it is blocked. Otherwise, look at the inlet valve and see if it is working correctly and go from there in replacing it.

One last thing, make sure the water supply line is actually providing water to the dishwasher, sometimes the water valves some installers use do get blocked, depending on how it was installed.

Dishwasher not washing or dissolving soap

Do your dishes look cloudy or spotty? If so it is not soap but rather hard water residue. Go to www.dishwasherfilter.com and get a filter that filters the water before it enters your dishwasher. it is very affordable(like 70 bucks) and guaranteed to work or you can return it for a full refund. I bet this will solve the problem.

New Garbage disposal, washing machine and dishwasher won't work.

Does not sound like these problems are directly related to the disposer. Grinding sound is most likely the impeller on the washer's pump. The washer gets to the first pump out and is unable to pump due to bad impeller or an obstruction. Bad impeller means replace pump motor. (not very hard) Check water supply to dishwasher. Valve turned off or line kinked? Filter screen at solonoid valve plugged?

Hookup at water supply

I do believe so.  Check your installation guide for more info.  If you purchased a water line designed for dishwashers, it should have the 90º elbow included.
