Outer tub bearings are gone

My outer tub bearing is gone only after two years of washing 3 to 4 loads a week. It was making a high pitch squeeling noise during the sping cycle. so I checked out the cost of a new one and it was $400 just for the tube and bearing no labor. I was not going to pay for that so I drilled a hole into the bearing and sprayed in some lube and the noise was less but did not go away.
