Outer tub bearings are gone

I have a Maytag MAH5500BWW and the outer tub bearings are gone. I ordered a lip seal kit thinking the bearings were part of this kit. I was wrong. I looked up the part for the outer tub and it is like $700. Do you know of any way I can get the bearing without replacing the whole outer tub?

My outer tub bearing is gone only after two years of washing 3 to 4 loads a week. It was making a high pitch squeeling noise during the sping cycle. so I checked out the cost of a new one and it was $400 just for the tube and bearing no labor. I was not going to pay for that so I drilled a hole into the bearing and sprayed in some lube and the noise was less but did not go away. I am sure it will start self destructing its self so I will have to get a new washer.

My bearings went out too and I found this site http://www.neptunebearing.com/ Ordered the bearings and the Tony Tool. My son and I replaced the bearings in about 2 hours!

My Maytag A9700 is leaking from the bottom of the outer tub. I have changed both the tub bearing and the stem seal but it is still leaking - even more than before I started. My question is whether I

If the boot seal was properly seated onto the outer tub lip, then you should focus on the water seal (#39 in the graphic - it should have come with the mounting stem kit) as the source of the leak. Extra care must be used when installing this over the agitator drive shaft - some recommend adding a lubricant (Maytag center seal grease works well) to the shaft before sliding the mounting stem (and water seal) down onto the agitator shaft. Also, check the two sealing surfaces where the top of the boot seal (#40) meets the bottom of the mounting stem (#30). Look for cracks, chips or any bits of debris. Anything that keeps those two surfaces from meeting perfectly will cause a leak. These repairs should go fairly smoothly, but leaking water seals and chipped boot seals can cause problems.

Bearings kit for mvwb85oyw0

rather than buying bearing/seal kit (which requires a special installation tool that is expensive and and far from superior) order part # w10381078 which is the outer tub asm which has the seals, bearings, shafts already pre-assembled. it's faster and cheaper on your part.

Problems with Maytag washer model MVWB300WQ

The bearing is bad on the outer tub but the bearing only comes with the outer tub assembly. This is a complete kit with the outer tub, seals and bearings. Here is the tub kit if you should decide to order it.

Water leaking from bearing at back of drum

you better get at this soon, the lip-seal is gone from the outer tub and now water has penetrated the bearings behind this lip-seal,the longer you wait the harder it will be to remove these bearings and if its a plastic outer tub you can destroy this tub when removing the old bearings, the inner tub needs to be removed, the rear access needs to be open the motor pulley removed, the c-clip that secures the outer bearing needs removing then the inner tub can come out the front to access these bearings for replacement

Looking for replacement bearings for the outer tub to inner tub on our Maytag FAV6800AWW, S/N 13389034ET. Don't want to replace the whole outer tub assy.

It sounds like you may have to replace the Outer Tub to replace the Outer Tub bearing .....ain't that just peachy.....good job Maytag design team.

If you are the original owner I would press Maytag hard to replace the Outer Tub based on the Outer tub Bearing failure. Their warranty states third thru tenth year Drive Motor, Outer Tub and Sealed Transmission. I’m sure you will need to have a certified Maytag repair service tech certify the failure and fix action required. Why should an Outer Tub bearing replacement cost you $430. Another poor design issue of this machine.

Grinding noise

The Neptune bearings are an interesting breed... Maytag wants you to replace the whole outer tub which includes the bearings installed for $180 or so. You can replace the bearings yourself. See www.tonytool.com to see how it is done. The tool costs $379 or so... but it is designed for the service tech. not the d.i.y.er. But watching the video can give you an idea of how to do it yourself. The bearings were available on www.neptunewaxmotor.com for about $35.00. You will also need the Maytag seal kit 12002022 to complete the job whether you decide to replace bearings or the outer tub.

Replace drum bearings on a Maytag MAH5500BWW

It depends on the installation. Is the area small?? How long would it take to clear the area for complete dissasembly?? After i had the machine all ready to be taken apart we charge 3 hours. Its not an easy job to say the least. However i personally own the same machine that i acquired and installed the new outer tub and seal. The seal comes with the new tub.
