I have bought a new PS3 and connected it to my Sharp Aquos TV but get absolutely no output. I have tried this using 2 HDMI cables and neither have worked despite both working fine on my Xbox 360 Elite.
Googling the problem has revelaed a couple of solutions but neither have brought any success. Eg.
- Holding down the power button and releasing after 3 beeps.
- Change the display settings and removing and plugging in cables at the right time.
The PS3 works fine using the standard scart cable.
I'd be very grateful if you could find a solution to this problem but if not is there a high standard alternative to HDMI?
Kitconnolly,
I too went through this problem.
Step 1 - Plug in your "composite" cables and the HDMI cable to the PS3. Obviously, the "composite" cable are the ones that came with the system. You need to start with them as the default connector.
Step 2 - After connecting the "composite" cable and the HDMI cable to the PS3, connect the other ends to your TV.
Step 3 - Power on your PS3
Step 4 - Select display settings-->video output settings
Step 5 - Change from the current video cables to HDMI. (Your tv has different inputs. When you switch to HDMI in the PS3, you will have to switch your TV to the HDMI input that it is connected to, to get a picture)
Step 6 - Be quick, the PS3 will display a "test" for 30 seconds. You need to switch your tv to the correct HDMI input and press "X" on your controller to accept the change.
Let me know how this works for you.
Right at beginning if u already have all the cables in the ps3 do u take them all out and then start from step 1?? And just 2 confirm the composite cable is the red, White and yellow camble right

I have no sound. The tv is not on mute, and the volume is turned up. I first noticed when I turned on my xbox 360. I tried my ps3, and no sound. I am using an hdmi cable. I have tried 3 different hmdi cables.
