How much does a main board cost? Where do you purchase it?
Same problem.. mine was doing this for the last few weeks, went to turn it on today and nothing.. not even a orange light.. completely dead,, i will never buy another Vizio, only had this TV for about 2 yeras. ridiculous..
I have the same problem

REPLACE MAIN BOARD WILL TAKE CARE OF THIS ORANGE LIGTH SINDROME
lucky that i got a broken screen one for parts to trayet out
I bought a "broken" L37 on e-bay for $175 figuring as an Electronic Engineer I might be able to fix it. Check the power supply, if the front panel LED is orange and the V1 voltage at the power supply board is about 5.2 VDC and the V2 is about 1VDC you can check the V3 voltage (display backlight?) by removing the " remote" black wire from the conector (very gently lift the white connector tab) and jumpering the connector onthe power supply to 5V to enable the V3 supply, if V3 is 50 VDC then its probably the logic board. I will post again if I can figure out the logic board problem (Crystals or capacitors are high probability failures) otherwise its $200 for a new one! :-(
Hey just fixed it myself its the mainboard with all the connectors, just switch that and your fine.
Told you guys that it is the mainboard not the power supply. please switch the mainboard and it will be ok trust me. oh and it doesnt have to be the same part number because i had a L37hdtv only not the newer L37hdtv-a model, newer one has qwam or something thats called that in there, so it could recieved better quality over the air. So i switched it with the newer mainboards.

Usually answered in minutes!
After having it for about 4 or 5 months, my L37 would put itself into standby mode. Would be fine if I just turned it back on. More recently (about 14 months after purchase) I had to unplug my TV for several minutes when it went into standby. Since this weekend unplugging my L37 no longer allows it to turn back on. I plan on having it looked at in the near future but looking at parts prices such as $470 for main board I am not expecting to hear good news. Hoping for the $90 power board....
I've had me L37 about 18 months. A few weeks ago it started going off while being used. At first it would turn back on by using the remote or the button on the set. Now it won't come on at all.
to mikejones:
the main board that you switched out, is that the main power supply that everything connects to?
mine is doing the same thing, but i have a spare tv for parts.
thanks
I have the same problem with the TV it will not come on. I saw that someone was able to fix it by switching out or repairing a part. Can you help us and tell us what we need to get or how we can fix it. I am really not in the position to be able to purchase another T.V.
Thanks,
mnbelk
Have vizio L37 tv.The green light will come on indicating it has power. It will however not do anything. The screen is totally black.Anyone know what board I will need to fix it.Thanks
I am having the identical problem, and frankly have gotten completely fed up with Vizio's customer service and tech lines.
They are aware of the problem. If you have had your TV 366 days, they don't give a damn.
These TV's should have been recalled. Plain and simple.
Is there anyone intrested in joining me on what may develop into a Class Action lawsuit?
There are hundreds of people having the same issue. Vizio knows about it. They have chosen to wait it out and tell anyone who's 1 year warranty is over to get screwed. There is absolutely no excuse for not recalling these sets with an identifiable problem like this.
I'm another Vizio owner with the same "will not turn on" problem as probably about half of all Vizio owners. I really believe they should be recalled or at least make the manufacturer gives us all a free main board to fix them. I'm contacting "Consumer Affairs" & the "Better Business Bureau" and anyone else who will listen. My TV was only 13 months old when this problem started & I paid a grand for it,!!! I'v been using an old fashioned heavy duty Panasonic for the last few months & it works great. Sure glad I didn't get rid of it when I purchased the Vizio. Live and Learn!!
I got the same issue, it turns itself off and it the biggest pain ever. It doesn't always turn back on also. The power on/off light will go green and then go right back to orange with the screen remaining black.
I also have a humming sound from the back, tho I'd imagine that's a separate issue.
my vizio L37 hdtv had the main board replaced under warranty after 10 months. now the yellow off button blinks on and off and the tv will, at best, turn on for just a few seconds. the tech people claim that the main board needs to be replaced again and the part costs 250 bucks. i bought this set at Costco and i'm going to start pressuring costco to stop carrying this product, and let everyone else know that vizio is unreliable junk. after talking to vizio about it, and leaving messages threatening consumer revolt, their best offer was to sell another set for only $700. vizio blamed me for not getting an extended warranty and pointed out that no other company offers a warranty for over 12 months. if you can get this far on a computer, you can also research the reliability factor for new flat screens; don't give vizio another penny.
37inch VISIO tv won't turn on at allnow just like everyone else itdid take twoyears to occur
Same issue but with a Vizio 32" Plasma bought on 10/1/08. Worked great until just about an hour ago. The standby light is on but now the TV won't power on. I unplugged the TV so I could plug it into a surge protector. Nothing out of the ordinary occurred, no sounds or "pop" (though the tv started to buzz lately). If I unplug the TV and plug it back in the standby light turns bright but then starts to dim. Guess I'll get a new one and try this again but not sure I should.
Same issue here, and it makes me sick to see how common this issue is. I'm in on any class action anyone can get going.
I'm bummed, but not suprised the manufacturer is stonewalling.
I"LL NEVER BUY A VIZIO AGAIN!
Contact me if you want to join up against these thieves.
I have the same problem with my vizio 42inch LCD. The power will come on, and then turn itself off after 5 seconds. Vizio told me it was the mainboard, so I swithched it out. Now it's doing the same exact thing, WHAT SHOULD I DO???
