Check the internal fuses AFTER eliminating power supply, power strip, etc. But it sounds like it is in sleep mode. Try unplugging it, wait 5 minutes then power up while holding the power button in. Good Luck! Rockinbadboy,Detroit Mi

Sir try to check the cables connection at the back of your tv. and if you are using a digital receiver, try to use a dvd to check if there is a sound. If there is a sound the problem is the digital receiver, feel free to send feed back good day and best regards.
Sound like the TV has a defective audio board. Opening up the TV would most likely void the warranty.
It's best to take the TV back and exchange it for a new one. Personally, I wouldn't want to be stuck with a defective TV ( that just came out of the box ) that they are going to repair for you.
If your TV is a SHARP LC-45GD5U,
Try using the reset buttons on the back of the TV. It should be below your digital audio output port.
If that doesn't work, ( this is only a guess) the power supply for the LCD screen may have burned out.
