Sounds like bad convergence IC's; this set uses two STK-392-570 IC CHIPS; both should be replaced and the blue 3.9 ohm resistors in front of them should be checked. Get someone who has done this repair on this kind of set before--it is usually not something for a do it yourself person; the middle pc board needs to be removed to safely replace the chips; then the set needs to be adjusted in the regular and HD modes. If this is helpful, give me a vote. if you need more direct information email me: [email protected]

This set is fairly easy to fix for this trouble. A AV48p30 usually takes me about 40 minutes to fix for this problem.
It uses two of the STK-392-110 convergence chips. The repair involves two things--getting at the chips (easy) and being able to unsolder them and replace them.
You can buy almost everything you will need on Ebay for under 30 dollars (I can tell you who to look for there)
Most shops are going to get 300 or more for this kind of repair so if you or someone you know can do it you can save a lot of money.
I can tell you how to get at the chips and also everything you will need to do the repair.
If this information has helped you rate this solution as I do this here for free.
If you want the detailed instructions let me know and I will post them here for you.

Change the coolant in the CRTs. The blue and green get contaminated and cause the red to become dominate. You can verify this by looking into the lenses of the CRts with a flashlight and you will notice what looks like bacteria in the lenses indicating that the Coolant needs replacement. You can then get the CRT coolant kit at www.tvrepairworld.com which has the coolant and the CD with instructions for Phillips Tvs.
