HP PRINTER 2840 WONT SCAN TO WINDOWS FAX AND SCAN PROGRAM

Hello you have to open the HP LaserJet Scan.
In the HP program group, select Scan to start HP LaserJet Scan
Select a scanning destination
Click Scan.

Apparently HP does not have a compatible HP branded software for this particular scanner. The link below will
take you to HP where they have an FAQ on using the Fax and Scan in Widows 7. If you haven't
already tried this I would suggest giving it a try. The fax and scan wizard in Win 7, while not perfect, is still
pretty functional and allows some different options depending on the material you are scanning. Since Win
7 has been out for awhile now, I would be surprised if there was a software package released at this point.

Try Scanning with Windows fax and scan program

1. Click the Windows icon ( ), click All Programs , and then click Windows Fax and Scan .
2. Click New Scan .
3. Make any desired setting changes, and then click Scan .

Odds are that you have a bad toner cartridge; especially common when using remanufactured cartridges. (Staples, Corporate Express, etc.) Replace your cartridge with an OEM HP cartridge and you should be OK.

It probably indicates that you need to either change a cartridge or a PM item. If you access the menu and navigate to supplies, it will let you know, otherwise yo may be able to access it on your PC. Check and see if you have a printer support software and use it to check printer status.

completely uninstall all software realated to this printer. disconnect your pc from the web. disable your anti virus and firewall then run your fresh install. if you are getting the diver/software from the web save it to your desktop and follow the first dsirections this should solve your problem

Check the phone line with a regular phone. Make sure the phone line going to the fax machine is plugged into the LINE port of the fax machine.

check to see if that printer requires direct plug into wall socket. and did that printer driver come on cd or did you get it from www.hp.com?

scan the report you are putting in for fax. give a print command for the scanned image/document after the scanned article is saved in the system
