Dishwasher trips breaker. Breaker only resets of door is opened

My ge dishwasher, only 6 yrs old, trips its breaker. The breaker will not reset unless the dishwasher door is opened. Then it will trip when door is closed. This started when i used the "antibacteria" cycle. ive used it before with no issues. Breaker is not the issue, as i switched it with another to be sure. Everything under the foot plate appears intact. House wires are intact. I did pull a rather long wire twist tie and a a small piece of rubber from the drain, however im not sure that could have been the problem.

The start light is flashing on my GE dishwasher?

What's the model number? How old is this dishwasher? The new GE dishwashers (less than 3 years old) have a weakness in the door switch/latch assembly, and that would cause the light to flash - it wants you to press Start and close the door, but it's not recognizing that the door is closed.

Dishwasher won't start

1) TEST some fuse blown +c. breaker trip , reset.
2) Test the outlet wall, and reset the c.breaker house.
3) Test the switch door, if there are defective or open the starting relais will not start the main motor see the schematic.

My dishwasher was in the middle of a cycle and it just quit. The buttons dont light up. It doesn't turn on at all. What could be wrong with it?

Sonya, have you checked the circuit breaker in your home's circuit breaker panel to see it has been tripped? Also, is the dishwasher door tightly shut? If the breaker is tripped, reset it to see if the dishwasher trips it again. If it does, either breaker is faulty or the dishwasher has a short circuit in the electrical circuitry. You'll need an authorized service person for that.

Hi! My Bosch began by tripping the breaker during the cycle (several times if I could get it to reset) and now will not start at all. Even when the dishwasher is off I cannot reset the breaker unless I...

Hello

Welcome to Fixya.

Based on your post,"...Even when the dishwasher is off I cannot reset the breaker unless I kind of move the machine around a bit. Sometimes it pops the breaker just closing the door..."

These are the most common reason for these Bosch dishwashers not having power.

#1

I would start by first shutting off the breaker. Then removing the kick plate ( access panel at the bottom ) and checking the wiring at the junction box for the dishwasher 120vac supply line.

Remove the murret's and visually inspect the wire for "resistance burn" and strip the wires back and install new fastener's if necessary to repair.

i.e.

This is actually quite common to find a wire connector come loose due to improper fastening and once the unit is in use for a while the connections heat & cool, become loose from normal operating vibrations and burn up from all the added heat caused by "resistance".

#2

A wire severed inside the door panel, hence the breaker trips by just moving the door in an open/close motion.

Check thoroughly in this location...

The end result is tripping the breaker and no power to the controls.

Check it out and post back what you find. Thanks for visiting "fixya" and please take a moment to rate the solution/suggestion provided here for you.

Good luck.

We had the same issue with ours...tried turning off at the breaker, still didn't reset. Contacted appliance repair who came in and unplugged it from underneath the sink, waited a few seconds and plugged it back...dishwasher reset and repairman charged trip charge and labor $65 BUT problem is resolved and we now know what to do in the future.
