Do you subscribe to HD channels? Even with a HDMI connection in place doesn't guarantee a HD picture from Direct TV

Best way to set is watch a program with lots of human faces; then adjust the color and contrast for most human like picture and the rest will become more perfect. There is usually no factory adjustment listed in the manual. But you can download the manual online and check it if you wanted to do so.

If the image is clear on the LCD and you can take sharp pictures, then your main optics and electronics are good. Your camera has an adjustable viewfinder. Check the manual to see how to adjust for your vision.

Vivid will make the picture look its brightest, press either Status, info or recall on the remote to see what Resolution you are receiving. If 1080i or higher,(720p is higher than 1080i) you should have a very clear and crisp picture.

In the picture settings, you can choose between hdtv and standard t.v.. That should work for you because not all channels broadcast in the hdtv signal.

I found a local tv repair guy who sold me the the CRT fluid for $80 and I gave it a go. It wasn't easy, but it worked. If you are really interested I'll tell you how I did it.

The output from your sat reciver is not HD unless it says right on it that it is . The signal your getting now is a digital signal from the dish to the reciver, but from the reciver to the TV set, it is analog.
