you should replace the heating element its gone.. an earth leekage is usually the heater element this is what is tripping the supply not anything else so in your machine you have a drum heater an emerssion heater its the same elements used in the dryer section so they go wrong i would look around the whole machine and replace perhaps the drum heater also calgon tablets are usefull for sure

There is a small thermostat button ontop of the Heater mechanism which has tripped . It has either a red dot or blue dot ontop. Use a pin or opened up paper clip and push through the red wax. It will go click and it is reset. .
It sometimes trips out with a F code which normally trips the machine off because it thinks the Heater unit is on fire.

Reset the Thermistor / Thermostat inside the machine by placing a paperclip or pin inside the red or blue dot as shown on the picture. This will pop the thermostat back into place. a new on casts about £15 ish.

You can see from my photos that the fluff is yellow in colour but actually looks grey. This clings along the length of the heater element . Take it fully apart and make sure all is clean. Change the resistor and the small Thermostat part beside it if needed costs about £30 for the pars.

SOURCE: Hotpoint Aquarius wd440 washer/dryer wont pump out water HELP!

hold the start button for 5 seconds this should clear previous program. then select drain on your dial. press start as normal and machine will drain. if this does not work the only other remedy is with help, making sure the end of the drain hose is higher than drum at all times take machine outside, lean it back at 45 degrees agaist a wall with a towel or similar covering lid to stop scratching . working from underneath loosen the large jubillee clip that connects the drum to pump drain hose to the drum. As the drum is overfull there is no recepticle large enough to fit under so just let water just flow away. Dry every thing off. make sure you don't loose ping pong ball in filter and make sure filter is clear. refitting is reverse of removal

SOURCE: hotpoint wd440 flashing dryer heat button and onoff button !

I had to have a tech come out for the same problem two weeks ago. They had to clean the lint collector which you cannot get to on your own. He said now that this has been done everytime I use the machine, take the clothes out and then run a rinse spin cycle.

Hotpoint FDEU 9640 washer dryer - stops during dry cycle with all LEDs flashing amber

If your Hotpoint FDEU 9640 washer-dryer is stopping prematurely during the dry cycle with all the LEDs flashing amber, it could be caused by a few different issues:
  1. Check the filter: Make sure the filter is clean and not blocked. A blocked filter can cause the machine to stop working properly.
  2. Check the venting: Make sure the venting system is clear and not blocked. A blocked vent can cause the machine to overheat and stop working.
  3. Check the heating element: If the heating element is faulty, it can cause the machine to overheat and stop working.
  4. Check the thermostat: If the thermostat is faulty, it can cause the machine to overheat and stop working.
  5. Check the control board: The control board controls the various functions of the washer-dryer. If it is faulty, it can cause the machine to stop working.
  6. If none of the above steps work, it is possible that the machine has a more serious problem that requires professional service.
It is important to refer to the user manual or contact Hotpoint technical support for further assistance and specific troubleshooting steps for your washer-dryer model. It is also important to make sure the machine is not plugged in before attempting any troubleshooting steps. It is also important to note that it is not safe to use a multimeter to test any of the heating element or thermostat

Hotpoint Aquarius WD440 Washer/Dryer. After a cycle clothes still smell as if there is stagnant water underlying somewhere yet machine has been looked at - nothing wrong. Still working in excellent order...

You can buy a liquid product (I got ours in Lidl) that flushes out and cleans the machine. If one application doesn't work try it again. It's just like cleaning out the dishwasher. Worked for us and it was really smelling!

Hotpoint Aquarius WD440 Error

Remove the white plastic cover on the back near the bottom. To the right as you look at it their will be a black concertina pipe with a hose clip on its top edge. Undo this and pull the pipe downwards to reveal the filter. There will be a plastic ball inside (which is supposed to be there) remove this and clear out the cr*p.

Re-assemble as removal.

That should fix it
