Runs for two minutes then dies gauge states check engine ,shut down
I recently came across a similar situation in a isuzu that took some time to diagnose. What if eventually turned out to be one injector had an intermittent failure and it too out 2 other injectors and the engine shut down. If the vehicle sat for 1/2 hour it restarted and ran again for sometimes days before the fault again appeared. It was tracked down by running the truck on a chassis dyno under load and when the fault appeared each injector was disconnected until the faulty one was revealed. If these symptoms parallel yours I suggest you point the mechanic in that direction .
SOURCE: fan on intake will not shut off
There is a relay and yes it is controlled by a intake temp sensor, they will run a long time, up to 1 hour on a hot day, have you had the battery tested, maybe it is getting weak, but if that's not the case why not just disconnect the fan motor, that is what I did, had a similar problem.
SOURCE: ENGINE SHUTS OFF
Have the code check and get back to me. You can go to Auto zone and they will check it for free. Good Luck
SOURCE: Engine dies for no apparent reason after several hours running
Sonds like a sensor putting out an error code to shut it down ( like a fatal error code) Prolonged vibrations and heat can make cam sensors, maf, o2 senosr do craz ythings which will actuate a govener and stall your car...could also be you fuel pump causually telling you that "hey im bout to die".I dealership can run a stress test (if you will) to check the longivity of the pump...
Good luck hope this helps :)
SOURCE: engine cuts off
If it cuts out after driving a while, one or both fuel pumps are a common culprit. After they warm up, they have a tendency to "fail" for a short while. When they cool back down, they work again. If you don't have any problems caused by lack of fuel while the car is still running, i'd suggest replacing the in-tank pump. If your car lacks power while it's running, your problem is most likely the secondary fuel pump, which provides the fuel system with the higher pressurse required for proper high speed operations. Also, do your fuel filter at the same time, to prevent other problems.
SOURCE: Engine runs short time, then low oil pressure, then shuts off.
try replacing the oil sending unit, it is located at the back of the intake. it is about two inches long. it is black. it ties into the fuel injection system.hope this helps.
Engine stalls cold or RPM
fluctuates at idle up and down or dies near idle.
This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve but always run a OBD2 fault code as well as the cleaning procedure. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control. If the above cleaning doesn't cure your issues you need to have the computer controlled automatic idle speed control system diagnosed and repaired by a dealer or electronic engine control repair shop.

Engine stalling issue at low speeds
This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve. Here are the most common causes of idle surge, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake
