I have a hyundai plasma tv 42 inches. Yesterday I unplugged the tv because i needed to use the socket it was plugged into, but when i plugged it back in, the usual red light on the main tv button wasn't on and it wouldn't turn on. I know it's not the fuse in the plug because I've tried swapping it with other things and they seem to be fine. I've had it for about 2-3 years and sometimes when there is a blackout down my street it takes a while for the tv to turn back on. do you know what the problem is?

SOURCE: Hyundai LCD TV HLT 3010 Pictue suddenly turns black but has voice

This is quite a common problem on LCD televisions.
It is not a fault you can repair yourself unless you are a competent electronics engineer.

One of the transformers on the inverter board will be the cause as the tend to go open circuit. Being surface mounted adds to the dificulty of changing this item as well.

SOURCE: hyundai 42 inch plasma tv

Mine's out, too. Red Horizontal bars Left and Right, picture goes in and out(meaning fuzzy-no picture) on Left half and the TV tuner is gone, I can play DVD with half of a screen most of the time, occasionally the whole screen.

I should have returned my "returnable model" three years ago when I noticed Wal-Mart was NOT accepting returns when purchased after a certain date (I had purchased just before that date) Big, Big, OOPS!!

Repair estimate starts at $800, not guaranteed, and that does NOT include repairing the TV tuner. Ouch, Ouch, Ouch.

I see Hyundai stopped selling these units... anyone in the Chicago area that wants it for parts, let me know.

The set does not respond to the remote or on board controls. It cannot be switched back to stanby with either the remote or the sets own standby button. It has to be switched off the the main on/off switch.

Vizion 42 inch tv flashing like storbe light

If the main system control memory IC has damaged, this kind of fault can occur. To get more details, http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Pull up older posts. Blinking codes to many brand TVs are given. Before doing anything, just make it a hard reset. To make it so, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 10 minutes or so.

This is because the power switch operated the socket that your TV is plugged into. Unplug it and plug it in another socket that is not operated by a switch. Appliances should not be plugged into a socket operated by a switch because of the inconsistency of power to the socket. Lights are about the only thing that should be plugged in.

If the fuse burned out the the tv would not turn on at all. When the tv is on is the back light still on? If its not its probably the back light that needs changing. If its on then its one of the circuit boards.

hi all .ive had the same problem,a thick black line down screen.sometimes it flickers from top to bottom and other permantly in view.but i have solved it.forget your ic boards and taking apart tv.have you got either a ps3 or wii connected to tv.if so unplug power lead from socket and relocate in seperate socket.make sure the lead is completely free of any other leads and you might just find this works.i think the power lead creates some sort of frequency that the tv picks up .good luck hope it works

Philips 42 inch plasma stored on it's back...won't go on

Storing it for a year should not have caused any problems. If the red standby light comes on but the unit won't power up you could have any of a million problems. A wire could have come out of a socket, there could be a short in the unit or the power supply may not be making all the necessary voltages. If you know TV safety and can use tools, unplug the unit. You can lay it flat on a cushioned surface, remove the back and check for any wires unplugged from their sockets. Check all fuses to make sure none are blown. These units typically have quite a few scattered on every board. Some will not be traditional glass fuses. Look for any burned components or boards. If you find no problems there is not much more you can do and you will need a repair shop to look at it. Certainly it should be worth fixing. If you do not know TV safety do not attempt any repairs and seek the help of a repair facility. Good luck.
