Breville kettle model JK71 Cafe Series activated trip switch at consumer unit and will not now switch on although the 'on' neon indicator remains on continuously.
If the 'neon' light is on, the power is getting to the kettle, so if its not heating up then the element must have broken.
This kettle has a little white trip switch inside the 'socket' of the kettle (not the base unit). If its not heating, light is not on and the plug fuse is OK, then poke the white trip until it clicks.
This fix worked for our Breville Ikon kettle. It was 'dead,' with no light or heat. Checked socket in bottom of kettle and found a white trip switch. Pushed until it clicked and the unit was once more in working mode. Thanks.
I have a BKE260 and i think it overheated as the switch was accidentally turned on with no water on. I found a white switch under the kettle but the only way I could "click" it was to stick a pair of scissors in there and try to flatten it - no click though - is that correct? Thanks
I have a BKE260 Glass Breville Kettle and it accidentally switched on with no water so I think it's also overheated and the switch is tripped. I looked under the kettle (not base) and saw a white switch and the only way I could touch it was to stick a pair of scissors in there and try to flatten the switch but it didn't work - is that the right white switch? Thanks
I discovered this solution myself when I looked at the base of my Ikon 500KL model kettle. There were two narrow white lever-like switchess sticking out inside the socket. I gave them a poke with a Q-tip, put the kettle back on its base, and it worked fine. I should note, there was no "click" or anything. I suspect these are meant to reset themselves when the kettle is removed from the base but had gotten stuck.
I have the Breville BKE720 I do not see a white trip switch???

Tried to put a new fuse in kettle but can't get into it !
You probably need a triangular screwdriver. Check Amazon or eBay.
