How do I change the default line on our phones

We only use 3 of our 4 lines so when we had the extra line turned off our other phones now automatically default to that line and it is very aggravating having to every time you pick up your phone to call someone having to first push one of the other lines so you can get a dial tone and dial your call.

2) test the wires from the extra line for open, break or defective.
3) test using another phone
4) use the user manual in troubleshooting section and fix it.

How many phones can we use at a time in our office? We have 3 currently and six jacks. Can we add more phones?

I'm guessing yes, but it depends on what system it's plugged into. In the U.S. Panasonic sytems come in 308, 616 and 824 models in the TA series, but only 4x4 default in the TAW-848.
These would be the systems most common for the 7731 phone.

So, when you locate the cabinet, if it's a TA-624/824, then you'll see a board with 11 modular jacks, 3 for lines and 8 for extensions. In the 848, it will be 4 lines and 4 extensions if it has not been expanded. If it's an old KXT30810/61610, you'll see the extra jacks on the sytem.

BIS-10 Phone - How to change default line

If you have a "squared" system (each line assigned to a different button), just press a different line button. To change the order of the lines, slide the "T/P" switch to "P" and press the line buttons in the order you want to use them (ie: Line 4, Line 3, Line 2, Line 1).

If your lines are "pooled" you just get the next available line from the pool - no choosing which line you get.

Hope this helps.

You need to go into lines/trunks and change the line typ from unsupervised to supervised so this will stop. How though?

Changing programming on a Norstar system must be done using a display phone. Using a M7310 or T7316 the right 2 buttons under the display are "NEXT" and "SHOW" respectively.

1.- To enter programming mode press "FEATURE" and "* * 2 6 6 3 4 4"
2.- Enter password (default = 266344) - display should read "Terminals & Sets"
3.- Press "NEXT"(bottom right arrow) - display should read "lines"
4.- Press "SHOW" (top right arrow)- display should ask for a line number
5.- enter in the line number you wish to change the supervision on in a 3 digit format. ex. line 1 = 001
6.- press the show key (top right arrow)
7.- The display should say Trunk/line data
8.- Press "show"(top right arrow) - display should read "trunk type"
9.- Press the next key (bottom right arrow) 7 times"
10.- the display should say "trunk mode: unspr"
11.- Press softkey "CHANGE" to "super"
repeat steps 5 - 11 for the remainder of the lines Press the Rls key when finished

I have an MLS-12D phone that needs odd programming - picking up the handset to call out should default to our main line (Line 1) (right now it defaults to a different line ? Line 2). Also, it should NOT be...

Well, there is a lot of things to do.

First, here is how to do Auto Line Select.

Is it only 1 phone that should be making outgoing calls? Or is it not place any outgoing calls ONLY on line 3?

Co lines dropping calls on occasion. Sometimes several times a da

Wow, you're running out of hardware options, so time to try the software. Turn your trunks into Unsupervised and see if it changes the operation. You'll probably lose conferencing. The other thing you might try is the timer, but by default it's 460 miliseconds and the next one is 600. If you don't have DS trunks, the Discon timer won't affect anything.
