Unplug Headphones. Open Control Panel, Sounds, select Speakers. Perhaps Headphones are set as default. The Dell Audio drivers can be found here: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/Product/vostro-1400 Do ALL your Windows and Dell updates, if you haven't already, after a install.

SOURCE: sound is working but internal speaker is not working

Connecting headphones to the system will disabled the internal speakers until the headphone jack is disconnected, at which such time the internal speakers should function again.

If you disconnect the headphones and the internal speakers are not re-activated, then there may be damaged to the microswitch in the jack. (Try rebooting after the headphones are disconnected too)

You'll need to download the driver for your microphone.
After you've tried that then there's something wrong with it.

It sounds like a driver issue. Go to http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs and enter your service tag. It should give you a list of available drivers for your system. Make sure that it specifies Windows Vista in the drop down menu. Check for audio drivers and install the most recent one.

My two speakers are connected and my computer is not muted, plus the plugs are tight but i get no sound. i have a toshiba satellite p305 laptop with windows vista home premium installed.

Make sure that the speakers are getting power.

Get another speaker, head phones or iPod headset and plug in. See if you get sound then, If everything fails this would indicate a problem with the computer or computer settings.

If other speaskers or headset works this would indicate a problem with the JPM-33 speakser.

Do you have sound otherwise? The sound to your headset comes from your sound card. You need to ensure the soundcard is properly installed. If it's ok, check there are no checks in the boxes on your audio controller. Right click on the little speaker icon in the system tray and select "Adjust audio properties", Select the "Audio" tab and choose "Sound playback". Clear any checks from the appropriate boxes and set the volume level to suit. Should now work.

If there is not a separate jack for speakers and headset, then you will have to unplug the speakers and then plug the headset into that jack. Some motherboards only have one audio output.

Sound only works with headset. No longer comes

If the sound is working through another device then it seems that the internal speakers are bad. Because if the sound card was bad you wouldn't have any sound whatsoever, same goes for drivers. Probably just some bad speakers. If you have some other external speakers try plugging them into the headphone port and see if that helps.

Voice problem in yahoorooms

Can you confirm if your sound devices (microphone, speakers, headset, whatever) are installed and working properly? I don't just mean because Windows says so. I mean have you tested your devices and they are functional? I only know my headset, webcam and speakers work because I physically tested them when I got my new PC.

Logitech headset, new vista operating system

either the headset is not supported by Vista, or you need to right click on both speaker icons, normally coloured red and black and in the properties you need to see if your headset is listed as one of the microphone input devices, if you need to make the Logitech headset the default mic and not the windows generic mic. If you do not see it in the properties then it may not be recognised by Vista.
