Scan tool will not connect read 1997 dodge 5.9L

ecm has been replaced????? was it programmed ?

What won't communicate, the Code reader? Are the plug wires firing? A OBD reader won't read with some problems.

A code P0113 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

• Internally failed IAT sensor
• Faulty connection at IAT sensor
• Open in IAT ground circuit or signal circuit
• Short to voltage in IAT signal circuit or reference circuit
• IAT harness and/or wiring routed too close to high-voltage wiring (e.g. alternator, spark plug cables, etc.)
• Faulty PCM (less likely but not impossible)

Possible Solutions First, if you have access to a scan tool, is there an IAT reading? If the IAT reading is logical then the problem is likely intermittent. If the reading is less than -30 degrees, unplug the connector. Install a jumper wire between the harness connector signal and ground circuits. The IAT temperature reading on the scan tool should be maxed out at the high end. For example it should be 280 degrees Farenheit or higher. If it is, the wiring is okay, and it may have been the connection. If it isn't install the jumper wire between the IAT signal circuit and the chassis ground.
If now the IAT reading on the scan tool is maxed out then check for an open in the IAT ground circuit. If you get no reading at all on the scan tool, it's likely that the sensor signal is open or the 5 volt reference is missing. Check using a DVOM (digital volt ohm meter) for a 5 volt reference. If it's there, then unplug the connector at the PCM and check for continuity on the IAT signal circuit between the PCM connector and the IAT connector.

Does your 'service engine soon' (sometimes a check engine) light stay on if you turn the key to 'run' but don't start it? If this light comes on then the computer is getting power. The no spark could be caused by a bad cam or crank sensor. Since the computer on Dodge vehicles uses both sensors for spark, you can't really tell which one is the issue unless you can connect a scan tool. The scan tool is powered by the port you plug it into, which gets its' power from the cigarette lighter fuse.

you could have a crank sensor,cam sensor,ignition coil problem.have it put on a scan tool that can read data to see if these sensors are sending a signal to the computer as with out a signal the computer will not allow the coils to fire.if the signals are being sent then you will have to check the ignition coils for power and grounds and resistance readings.

OBD Code 12 - No Distributor Reference Pulse (Diagnostic Test Active) The Engine Control Module-ECM uses the distributor reference pulse to calculate the engine speed. On newer engines, the Crank Shaft Position Sensor performs this function.

Symptoms:

• When flashing the Check Engine Light to read codes, code 12 will always display first, indicating the diagnostic system is active
  
• The engine will not run with a "hard" code 12 set
  

Common Problems:

• Chances are you will never need to diagnose a code 12. Rather, the problem would be a crank, no-start condition.
• If code 12 does not flash, that would indicate a communication problem with the ECM.
• Code 12 does not show when reading codes with a scan tool. If there is a communication problem, the scan tool will let you know.

OBD Code 46 - Pass-Key II System Error - Circuit out of Frequency Range The ECM receives a signal from the Pass-Key module. When the correct signal is received, the ECM will allow the engine to start and run. Please review the RepairPal article on the GM Pass-Key Anti-theft systems for more information.

Symptoms:

• Engine may not start

Common Problems:

• Faulty ignition lock cylinder

OBD Code 43 - Knock Sensor error The ECM receives a signal from the Knock Sensor based on the amount of engine ping detected. The ECM uses information from this sensor to help calculate fuel delivery and spark timing.

Symptoms:

• Engine ping
• Lack of power

Common Problems:

• Faulty Knock sensor
• Poor connection at Knock sensor

It means "Crystal Clear Display" but in basic term its called a ccd bus, basically the OH console module is not communicating with body control module so you want to check power and ground pins or you just might have a bad module, sorry.

usually when coil dies the computer shuts off fuel pump to stop you catalytic converter and engine filling up with gas! do you have a eng light on if so scan with:OBD 2 scan to retreve you problem don't get$$ any how do you have SPARK when coil is connected?have you tested with a spark tester tool not spark plug not efficient!!! also have you tested all the in car fuses and under hood fuses with circuit tester tool not pulling and looking!???good place to start!
