Ok, I recommend that if this task may seem difficult that you call a licensed contractor to perform this work. Seriously, a home owner is only allowed to replace devices, Switches, Receptacles, and lights or fans. Replacing a length of cable will require a licensed contractor.

You need to have the contractors return and troubleshoot the problem free since they told you they both worked when you purchased them. There's an implied warranty here. The two ovens should have been tested before the contractor left your house to prove they both worked together.

New installation should be covered by your contractors. Maybe BBB or local TV station (although I hate all the individuals involved) could help. You might try asking how long the contractors intend to stall before you are forced to resort to the media.

To answer your question, the common wire should be at ground potential. That means zero volts relative to your local ground (cold water pipe or other provision. If you can't trace it, the contractor should be able to. If other circuits are normal, it's in that line which should be off of it's own breaker.

how many wires does the fan motor have and what colors? also, i assume there is no diagram on the motor itself? are you using a dual capacitor or a separate one for the compressor and one for the fan?

Hi, on a thermostat like you have, the RC and Rh have a jumper wire that connect the two using the red -hot wire coming in. This means R-cooling and R-Heating. So, take the red and connect to either one, and make sure you use a jumper wire to connect rc and rh together along with the red wire coming in. Yellow will go to Y for cooling, W for heating, and G,green for the fan. If you have a blue wire left over, it is a spare, unless you have no yellow. If it doesn't have a yellow, use the blue wire for cooling. Some contractors will use blue instead of yellow. If not, the blue is a spare wire.

Hi, wow I can't believe they left you with E-Heat only, running the blower with the heat strips on!! Like it says, for an emergency in the event you loose you're compressor. You say that know you have nothing.I would have to be on site to wire the condensing unit, High and Low voltage as this is a heat-pump and they all have different wiring schematics. Look at the indoor unit and find the power source.Being a heat-pump you should be at 220volts. Find the box it may be right there to see if a breaker has tripped. If so, turn it off and snap it back on.If this is not the problem, you need to get on the phone and have them back on site today, and if they are Licensed a/c Contractors and refuse to come out because its a week-end, don't take no for an answer, just bring up the State Contractors License Board. They should have a tech on call 24/7 as I was one on call until I became a contractor. Again, don't take no!! Best of Luck to you,

Tell your contractor that you are notifying the local building inspector. He will not like this. I hope he applied for a permit to do the install. If he did, tell your local building department and demand that they activate the contractors bond to pay for another contractor to complete the job. And/or call the local Goodman distributor and let them know how dissatisfied you are with that particular contractor that they are selling to. See if they can help you. Worst case scenario, accept your loss and call another contractor. I would write a letter to the local newspapers editor and the better business bureau regarding this shady contractor. Put an add in the newspaper notifying everyone what happened to you. Put a sign in your front yard stating DO NOT USE THIS CONTRACTOR
This contractor can not afford to have the bad publicity that you can inflict upon him. Call him ten times a day. Call him at 3 AM every night. Haunt him.
