Symphonic WFR205 DVD recorded but not finalized

Please, Please help. I have a similar problem with my symphonic WFR205. I have recorded the first year of my oldest child's life on a disk. Then my DVD player/recorder broke and I was unable to finalize my recorded disk. So now the images of my child's youth are stuck on a disk that cannot be played on any other DVD player. Symphonic support was useless. They have quit making the DVD recorder and I can't find a used one anywhere. I would be willing to mail my home DVD's out if someone would finalize them for me. Please help! Jeremy Normington 608-339-9083

I have similar problem. I have recorded all of my old tapes on a DVD-RW disc (lots of time spent on it) and as I wanted to finalize them - it would display an recording error. Recently I purchased a new Sony blue ray player and I realized it would play the not finalized discs. I am still looking for a solution how to record these memories on a PC so I can edit them.

My BBK DW9937S dead too. But I changed its DVDWriter to NEC5170 (and now I've got an DW9938 because I can burn even DVD-R/RW disks too).
As I mentioned above almost any combo VHS/DVDwriter has the IDE DVDRW inside (I hope you guess how to fix it)

Can u record from vcr onto dvd on the symphonic udv580

Yes.
You will need a dvd-R and it should be a record button on the dvd side that you push after starting the VHS on Vcr side.

What kind of blank dvds can i use

DVD-R and DVD+R should play once recorded and finalized. RW of any kind is iffy and must be tested to see if they will work.
I don't think any dual layer DVDs will work, but I could be wrong. If you're taking about recording DVDs on this, it's not a DVD recorder as far as I know.

Symphonic DVD recorder wfr205

I have the same Symphonc DVD- VCR Combo wfr205. I can't get it to work either. I called Syphonic support 2 years ago about it, they told me to clean it. I did. It will recognize DVD's sparodicly, but will not finalize them so that I can play them on anything else. I tried 3 different brands of DVD-R all with the same results. I called Symphonic a 2nd time. They do not offer replacement and have never acknowledged the recoder has a problem. I finally bought a Sony DVD recorder. I can use it along with the VCR portion of the Symphonic. The Symphonic was a waste of cash.

DVD won't record

check your dvd that may not be a recordable dvd. You have to use either DVD R+, R-, or rewritable RW+/- disk. where did you buy it?
