Handset doesnt work

Unable to make outgoing or receive incoming calls with the handset. No dial tone. When I press the "talk" button - nothing. The base works great. When the handset is in the base - the caller id display works, as well as the volume display. I've tried unplugging everything, including battery, used different phone jacks, plug, etc. no luck. No hissing noises either. I called Uniden and their automated line states it could be a defective handset speaker - would require sending back to the factory. However, upon request, they no longer can fix it due to the age? They wont fix it. Its not that old.

Do you have another phone (cell phone) you can use to make a test call to yourself? If you can answer a call and the Uniden transmits voice OK, then it is probably the speaker and may just be a bad solder connection. If the handset does not transmit or receive I seriously doubt you have a bad microphone AND a bad speaker, you'd be looking at something more serious.

I have a GE Cordless 5.8 gigahertz handset and digital answerer. I can see the red light flashing during an incoming call, but hear no dial tone and no ringing. I just replaced the battery. The handset...

Hi,

Did you pay the Bill ?

this seems as if it,s incoming calls only. Check the line with an alternative Phone. This will verify the lines good. And eliminate that One.
Also check if theres A Tone/Pulse setting.
This can also have adverse effects.
If this is on an adaptor fitting with internet access, try removing the adaptor, and plugging the phone direct into the Socket.
Or try the phone on a seperate or diferent Socket.

Hope This helps.

How do I program the phone to ring on an incoming call? The ringer is on.

The solution will depend on why the phone is not ringing. Do you have a good cable? (Can you get a dial tone and make outgoing phone calls?) If you don't have a dial tone, use another phone to check if the phone is the problem or if the jack is at fault.

Next is the phone forwarding calls or in the "do not disturb" mode.

If the problem is one of the above, which model of the Main Unit do you have, KX-TA624 or KX-TA1232?

If the unit is in the "do not disturb" mode, to cancel: pick up the handset, press Program then 0 followed by # with the TA624. For the other model, press Program followed by 0 . Then hang up the handset. For this the manual says press the FWD/DND button not the Program button. I'd check both.

To cancel Forwarding, except for Follow Me Forwarding, pick up the handset, press FWD/DND and then 0 and # (TA624) or 0 (TA1232) then hang up the handset. To cancel Follow Me Forwarding: pick up the handset, press FWD/DND then 8 followed by the extension number. Then press # for the TA624 and hang up; just hang up the handset for the TA-1232.

I hope this helps.

Mitel 5212 no dial tone and goes straight to voicemail

Not too sure about the no dial tone issue, but you can check to see if the DND is turned on...
Press the Blue Superkey and scroll thru till you see DND (Do Not Disturb) is on and shut it off.

Have You Tried Replacing The Cable Connecting the Base To the Wall Jack? If Not Do That...
If that doesnt work there should be a channel button on the handset try that...If that doesnt work i would say the handset itself is bad.

Pick up receiver and get a dial tone for outgoing w/o pressing 9

I beleive you are referring to a phone which is part of a PBX system or Key-system (sounds more like a Panasonic PBX system). If so, this is a system program that has gone "bonkers". You may need to re-program the automatic outside line dial tone on the system for the specific phone you are referring to.

Registering Handsets to the Base
Whichever handset you choose to charge in the base is automatically
registered to the base. Any additional handsets must also be registered to
the base before you can use them.
Be sure both handsets are fully charged.
One at a time, place each handset in the base. The charge/in use LED on
the base begins to flash, indicating the base is registering the handset.
Wait for at least five seconds, then pick up the handset and press
[talk/flash]. If the display shows TALK, the handset is registered. If not,
place the handset in the base to try again.
Press [end] and continue with the next handset.
Note:
Once both handsets are registered, it doesn’t matter which
handset is placed in the base or the charger.
When you charge the handsets, Caller
ID summary screen and the name of
the handset appears.
