SOURCE: navman icn510 gps reciever problem
How long are you waiting and are you moving while it is trying to acquire signal? These receivers are using older circuitry that may take up to 20 minutes to first acquire a signal from a cold start. If you are moving it may take longer!!! The good news is that after you have initially acquired a location, if you turn the unit off it will only take a minute or so to reacquire after it has "warmed" up.
SOURCE: navman F20 series not seeking gps
I have had this problem from time to time with my F20 which I have had since May 2007. The simple solution is to turn it off and then on again and let it go through it's start up sequence. It is far better for this to be done whilst stationary.
SOURCE: continual "waiting for gps " message
the message should also read no mnsa data first... if these units are not in continual use, they get corrupt for some reason. all you can do is hope the gps fix will work itself out, otherwisw buy a new unit.
