The cooker stays warm when mains cooker switch is on.

When I turn on the (main) cooker switch to use the ignition for the gas hob, my oven stays warm (no fan operating)and will only switch off when the mains is switched off. What is the problem please?

Either teh grill element or the oven heating element is fault or the thermostat or grill regulator, locate which element is warm, if the grill then it is most likely the regulator, if it is the oven it is the thermostat. Engineer

I assume you mean if the main electrical isolation is switched to on , the grill/ upper oven heats up even though the grill / upper oven switch is correctly set to off ......if this is the case you require a replacement thermostat for the upper oven I believe these are now obsolete and the alternative comes as a kit part no. 012959401 to modify the wiring and replace both upper and lower oven thermostats see instructions attachedThe cooker stays warm when mains cooker switch is - cid:eb5fa66b-5b72-4dad-aafc-a1f3a691fb03

I have an old belling farmhouse cooker the hob works fine but the oven isn't igniting manually or by the electric ignition The timer is manual and is stuck on the red patch I can't seem to shift it ...

Take the tiny screws of there are loads down right hand side then release screws on hob once you can lift hob plates up. Undo the covers on back of timer clock control . Make sure you un plug from mains . Take the neutral of back of timer clock. This will allow your oven to auto ignite again

Belling G755 Cooker oven wont stay lit

I'll give this a go! With a cooker like this, you depress and then turn the control knob, press the ignition button and continue to depress the control knob for a few seconds. This is because a device called a thermocouple is heated by the flame and you have to continue to depress the control knob so that sufficient gas flows to heat up the thermocouple. If the thermocouple does not get hot or stay hot then the gas valve is automatically closed - stopping the gas. The thermocouple is a 'flame failure' safety device. If the gas gets cut off then the flame goes out and the thermocouple goes cold switching off the gas valve automatically. However, you are having to try and manually keep the gas going for a good five minutes. I would think that there is either a problem with the thermocouple or the gas control valve! Oven will not respond

The knob won't have any effect on the flame size.  The knob controls temperature.  If you're referring to the pilot light staying on and then the main flame not going on...that's another problem.  If the main flame will not go on, the assembly that controls the main flame is likely defective.  If the unit has a thermocouple, you might change it out first.  Sometimes, that's all that is needed and they're cheap.
