When i connect my sansa clip 2gb it will not charge. it say connected and then goes off. I thought it was charging but when i checked it the battery had died what do you suggest i do to get it working again

If your Sansa player is freezing, not charging or not turning on, the first thing to try is a reset of the unit. This will normally clear any temporary condition that may cause the player to freeze or not shut off completely, it's a bit like when your PC crashes and you need to re-start it to clear the error.

Unfortunately there was a manufacturing flaw with many Sansa Clips which caused one of the battery leads to detach from the battery. A symptom of this is that the Clip will turn on and charge when connected to an external power source, such as USB or an AC adapter, but will not actually turn on using the internal power source (eg, the battery).

If your Clip is still under warranty, you should return it for a refund or an exchange.

Try connecting it to different USB ports, especially the ones on the back of your computer, and see if it behaves differently.

Otherwise, it may be that your battery has reached end-of-life, though two years is pretty short. The battery in your Clip should last 800 to 1200 recharge cycles.

It's also possible that the battery leads detached from the battery, due to being bumped etc. Symptoms of this are that the Clip will eventually run completely out of charge and you won't be able to turn it on, but it will turn on when connected to an external power source, such as your computer or an AC adapter.

I had the same problem this morning, albeit with my 8G Clip. Nothing worked -- the thing seemed dead as roadkill -- until I found a link about "forcing MSC mode." Basically, it told me to hold down the center button while plugging my Clip into my computer using my USB cable. Suddenly, boom! It's awake and alive and happy again. I'm unsure how that works, but that did it for me.

I have sansa clip which i believe behave the same it never says charging it always says connected but that does not mean it is not charging .
leave your sansa connected for a while and then see if the battery meter has changed .

Make sure that the USB cable is properly plugged in and use the original cable.

Computer in Hibernation mode
Make sure that the computer isn’t entering hibernate or sleep mode while the device is connected. The computer must be on in order to charge your player.

USB Port 2.0
Make sure your player is connected USB 2.0 port (1.1 occasionally causes charging problems).

USB Port location
Try plugging in different USB port (i.e. USB port in the back of the computer); sometimes the front USB ports have problem charging up the device.

Battery
Make sure the battery is fully charged. It takes approximately 3 hours to fully charge the battery.

Latest firmware
Make sure to update firmware by downloading and installing the Sansa Firmware Updater.

To charge the battery, please follow these steps:

will show connected and the yellow charging indicator will appear.
The battery level indicator will blink while charging. You will not be able to

4. To stop recharging, simply disconnect the cable.
The battery can also be charged using an AC adapter (not included) or a car adapter

adapters.
NOTE: Some low-power USB ports may not be able to provide enough charge
power. Also note that the rechargeable batteries are not replaceable.

You can charge it by leaving it plugged into the computer for 3-4 hours (usually less).

I had a similar problem with with one of my mobiles, so not sure if it applies in this case, check the ports, and make sure the device is connected to the correct usb port that the pc has allocated to your portable device (sansa clip)

yu charge it erveryday, and yuve been using it everyday, so that means that it needs to charge, if it says connected tocomp and charging that means that it needs more electricity in its battery to keep, its battery running.
