Yes, you can have both of them to work if you want to invest some money in purchasing a wireless internet router and a wireless adapter for your xbox360 an average cost for both would be around $120 at walmart or future shop, all you do is setup your wireless router and than setup the wireless adapter instructions are included and are all over the web after that you can enjoy netflix and xboxlive all in the same room wireless free

nice its really simple with windows xp im not sure about vista but what i did with windows xp is i would open the box for my networks i was connecting to the right click the local thats going into the xbox too computer and and click properties and click share internet connections and click share for all the things for local connection which is xbox to laptop and make sure it syays ur connected locally then u wanna go to the wireless connection right click and click properties and and advanced tab click share this connections with other hosts using this computer and if that works u should have xbox live for best xbox live speed u need atleast 3-4 bars if its smaller than that move ur laptop closer or u will have very slow reaction time

Your WPA key is simply put, the password that protects your internet. (Wi-Fi Protected Access). I'm assuming you have a wireless internet and that is how your son is connecting to Xbox Live? (Unless he is mistakenly connecting to another wireless network other than your own.)
Someone in your household should know what the WPA key is, because it was the password set to protect your internet. (Most likely done so on a PC or laptop.)
So here are my suggestions:
1. Make sure your son is connecting to the right wirless network on his Xbox. You can do this by going to Settings --> System Settings --> Network Settings --> Configure Network --> Clicking A once you get to that Menu, and then scanning for Networks. Chances are you will get a few results. In order to connect to Xbox Live, you have to chose your wireless network.
2. If no one in your household knows the WPA key, I would suggest contacting who ever set up your internet, or another option would be to connect to Xbox Live directly, using the modem cable. (You would have gotten this when you originally bought the Xbox.) This can get pretty complicated however, so I would suggest trying to figure out the WPA key.

i had this exact problem. the reason mine wasn't working was because the security settings for my wireless router were set on wp2a and the xbox 360 can't pick this up. change your wireless router security to wpa and you should be fine...after i did this it saw my network and i was fine

Please open your router page and open the DMZ page give an IP address.
Then open X-box page and force the same ip address it will allow your x-box to communicate with the router.

sounds like a security conflict, if you log onto the router and disable the wireless security will the laptop connect to the internet?

Ok, heres a list on what to do. -With the console off, connect the adapter into the console via USB and clip it to the console with the clips provided.  -Power on the console and go to network settings.  -Find the section that says "find wireless networks" -Select yours and test the xbox live connection -FOR MORE HELP CALL 1-800-4MY-XBOX

In theory you should be able to "share" your internet connection. I use a Linksys WRT54GS wireless router and I have a Linksys Game adapter on my son's 360. He has not complained about lag or slow server times unless other intensive bandwidth is being used.
