Mp3 player displays "no files"

I recently deleted all of the songs on my lexar mp3 player and added new ones. I can get them to play when connected by usb to my computer but when not connected the screen on the player reads "NO files". I know the disk is full and the songs are on there. What can I do to get them to play.

I loaded the songs the last time from the same computer and had no trouble.

  • Murielle Boule Jul 07, 2007

I checked the extension and the only thing I come up with are the letters .ra after the name of the song. I'm new at this and I'm not sure where to go from here.

It is likely that the files loaded are not true MP3, therefore the PC -which can cope with WAV and other formats will play them but the player that read only MP3 cannot. Are you sure the files loaded are truly MP3?

  • Anonymous Jul 07, 2007

Yes but where did the songs come from?
    Are they MP3?
Check the extension [that is the 3 letters after the . in the name -- Name.xyz
What does xyz say in the computer?
Also right click on the name and click on properties it will tell you the file type.

ra is possible a CD track - to to convert using Db power you need the CD in the player and let the converter do the business

Hi, I would be very thankful if you help me. I have a brand new Mp3 Memorex 8590 and have added around 50 songs and it shows when playing one song on the display 1 of 1, and once the song is over, the...

It seems your new mp3 player memory is already full, you need to delete other files or songs before you added another. If it is not yet full, try to delete and reinstall other songs. Be sure the file songs you added has no error on it.
That the only things you will do, the mp3 player operate normally and trouble come as you add new songs, don't overload it, as it's built in memory will fail.
Thanks for asking.

Needs to format and I do not know how.

Hi

To format it Connect it to the computer, go to My computer-> right click on the mp3/mp4 player after it is displayed-> select format-> Format it as FAT32 File system. Formatting the MP3/MP4 player will delete all the songs/data from the player. So, backup all data before formatting it. Hope this helps...

Current files on gogear mp3 cant be replaced.

The HDD6330 doesn't respond well to Windows Media Player 11 - I know it's a pain, but you may have to rollback to Windows Media Player 10 to get it to display correctly (don't worry - you will not lose your existing files by doing so).

My sansa e250

If you want to delete EVERY track off the player, then reformat the player in Windows Media Player - it's a shortcut - see my "tips and tricks" on formatting mp3 players

If there are artist, album traces, then you need to click on every subfolder under your device in Windows Media Player and delete every trace that way - tedious, but effective

-Tha Mp3 Doctor
There are 2 ways to format an mp3 player - if you were formatting the mp3 player from "My Computer," then try reformatting from Windows Media Player instead - I have a "tips and tricks" entry on How to Format an Mp3 Player for details

If that doesn't work, then double-click on My Computer, double-click on the Sansa player, and go to the various folders that it lists - music, voice, etc. Delete the songs ONLY - do not delete the dat, bat, ini, inf, or other system files

Redgroove pt544 mp3

The songs are copyright encrypted - convert them to mp3; that is the problem with WMA format. Also, make sure you have the Windows 2000 driver.

The instructions in these pages, which are largely links, pertain to Windows Media Player 10 and 11 only.

Windows Media Player is made by Microsoft. The general help page for Windows Media Player is:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/default.mspx

Through this link, you can enter a variety of search terms that will help you find what you are looking for (exs.: “add files to my mp3 player”; “delete files from my mp3 player,” etc.)

Important Vocabulary:

The code word for “mp3 player” in Windows Media Player is “DEVICE” or “portable device”

The code word for adding files is “SYNC,” “syncing,” or “synchronizing”

The code word for copying files from CD is “RIP,” or “ripping”

The code word for files stored on both My Computer and my Mp3 player (when it is connected to the computer) is “LIBRARY”

To add files (SYNC) to your mp3 player using Windows Media Player 10:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/windowsmediaplayer/wmp10/harrison_wmp10.mspx

To add files (SYNC) to your mp3 player using Windows Media Player 11:

To delete files from your mp3 player using Windows Media Player 10:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/knowledgecenter/mediaadvice/0085.mspx#EDF

To delete files from your mp3 player using Windows Media Player 11:

My Directions:

1. Connect your mp3 player to the computer

2. Open Windows Media Player

3. Click on the icon of your Mp3 player on the left-hand side of the Library

4. Click on the Songs, Tracks, or other Music Folder

5. Find a song or songs that you want to delete

6. Left-click the song once to highlight it

7. Press the “Delete” button on your computer’s keyboard

To copy (RIP) files from CD to Mp3 player using Windows Media Player 10:
