Recently we have been getting a lot of postscript gibberish pages when trying to print. Then after reseting the printer I might get 1 or 2 prints and then it stops. Looking at the print queue (mac 10.7) it shows the last job still printing even after it has printed and is done, but won't clear the job so the next job can start.

Possible that a reset might help. It is worth trying to re-install.Shut down PC system and restart with the printer removed , then install the driver software and on completion connect the printer-hardware- to be installed.Test and see if it works or else you might need help from HP support.Check this link : http://www8.hp.com/uk/en/support-drivers.html
1. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in NET STOP SPOOLER (this will stop the
print spooler service)
2. Browse to your windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS\
folder. You should see files there ending in .SPL and .SHD created around the
time you tried to print - delete these files.
3. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in NET START SPOOLER (this will restart the
print spooler service)
Try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

Have reinstalled print drivers to no avail. The networked printer is on a private subnet so resetting to factory defaults is a royal pain. Right now we can print new jobs to it but have to manually delete each print job from the queue after it has completed otherwise no other print jobs can be sent.
FYI, it is only Mac systems printing to the network printer
