I had this problem on my 42" Philips. Just got it yesterday and worked fine on the tv stand. As soon as I mounted the TV to the wall via wall mount system, I had the exact same issue you did. Figured it out today.
The wall mount was putting pressure against the center of the back of the tv (tv set had a slightly rounded back plate, and the mount was a flat plate). As soon as I put spacers (part of the wall mount hardware set) between the wall mount braket and the tv so there was no contact except at the mounting holes, the tv worked fine.
My theory is the pressure pushed the tv back plate against some board components which caused them to overheat (no air flow); or put pressure on internal connectors. I dont know.
Hope this helps, may not apply to your situation.
This sounds like a mainboard problem. Unless you do not see a back light flash when you turn on the TV, which may mean it is an inverter board problem, this is most likely fixable by replacing the mainboard.
hi i want to know if you have it again and if you want to sale it to repaired mine and how much

I "have an LG LCD 37" it's 3 weeks old, 2nd exchange. These things must have a bad chip or circuit board in them. Anybody wif sum answers? Thanks.
Our LG LCD 1080p 52" tv is 5 weeks old and from 1st week the screen goes black anytime, intermitant problem, sound still works. you can vaguely see faint shadow of picture but not viewable. We were told by service agent that most probable cause is main board/power otherwise may need software upgrade. If this does not fix this problem it is the actual panel. LG said we had a 14 day good will period (my ***) and refused to replace the tv. will only repair the hunk of junk. Never buy LG products this is our 3rd and final purchase from their company. Disgusted with service and products.
