HP Officejet J5780 incoming faxes

You need to push the "auto answer" button your fax machine so that it knows to answer the incoming call. The auto answer button is on your printers keyboard, usually in the upper left hand corner and has a little red light next to it. When you push this button, the fax will answer all incoming calls. You can set the number of rings to answer through the menu on the computers keyboard. Look for the menu key and use the up and down arrows to scroll through the options until you see fax set up.

Press Setup Button on front panel of printer
Scroll to Fax Settings ( Or Advanced Fax Settings )
You will find ECM ( Error correction mode )
Turn it OFF

Try to receive Fax, IT should work

check telephone line

Go in your settings on the fax machine and select the option to tell the thing to automatically pick up in 2,3,4, etc., when an incoming fax signal comes in.

Hello sir; Try to change a cable (from phone jack to printer) see what happen.

try to check the fax recieve settings don't enable the junk fax option and change the paper size to A4

FAX    RINGS BUT WILL NOT ANSWER

the issue that you have has something to do with the "Rings to answer", for you to change it follow the steps..

1. press SETUP BUTTON on your printer
2. Scroll down and look for BASIC FAX SETUP, then press OKAY
3. Inside Basic fax setup, scroll down and look for RINGS TO ANSWER, then press okay.
4. It will give you choices there, just look for ANSWER ON RING 6, then press okay,

tadahhhh!! THAT SHOULD WORK.

Hi,

You can just simply unplug the telephone cord from the back of the machine so that it will not ring and it will not receive a fax.
