your GS gave it to you or just a loan.???? details matter big time on complex computers.
If you now own this PC why not reload the OS, using the HP F11 recovery key, 2006 and newer, no pc stated so no exact answers are possible at all.
if its not your pc, then create your own account
only your GS can do that after HE logs in.
click control panel
click users
click add user, you.
end.

SOURCE: Windows Explorer Details View problems.
Usually, the view is determined by the type of files within the folder. For example, when you are in the My Music folder, the Details view gives you columns like "Artist" and "Album", etc, whereas the My Documents folder has the more generic "Name", "Size", etc.
However, if you right click upon any column header (that's where it says "Name" or whatever), a menu comes up that allows you to choose which columns are displayed. And once you change a particular folder to display, THAT folder will then display those columns until you remove them. But any other folder will default to back to the standard settings unless you manually change it yourself.

Re: the inability to use Windows etc. First make sure you logged on as an Administrator, if you're not change the permissions ( start->settings->Control Panel->User accounts, then make the changes needed).
As far as the lost password(s) visit www.magicaljellybean.com and download their key finder as you may need a key later on if you need to re-do major settings. Next head over to: http://www.loginrecovery.com and download the appropriate files to removable media if necessary, then run on your computer. If that doesn't recover the passwords check Tucows.com or Cnet.com for password recovery freeware.
Hope this helps.
