Dual element stopped working work on a Jenn-Air smoth cooktop

A 3 year-old cooktop JEC9530ADB dual control element all of the sudden stopped working. Is it the element or something else? All the other elements work properly.

This is the second time our Dual element stopped working, the first time it was under warranty, so I don't know what the original problem was.

SOURCE: knob not working and some burners not heating

The switch under that knob is bad.  It's called an infinite switch.  As far as the elements go, first thing to check is for proper voltage (220) to the cooktop.  Let me know what you find.

SOURCE: how to wire a jenn air cooktop JEC9530ADB

the new cooktops and ovens now have a 4th wire used for separating the ground and neutral. some new homes and remodeled homes have a 4th wire run from the circuit panel to the unit.
you dont have this but it is ok to just hook up the white and green/ground wires together. then red to red and black to black. it will work properly and thats all you have to do.

SOURCE: Jenn-Air surface cooking elements look rusty and ugly

they make a special cleaner - polish just for the "solid" type burners. it looks like shoe polish and will make the burners look like new again. not sure where you can find it online but go to your local appliance parts houseand they will know what it is your needing.

SOURCE: JEC9530, dual element burner(right front) does not

This coulb be either the switch or the burner. Either can be tested with an ohmmeter if you can read the wiring diagram. Hope this helps!

My Jenn AirCooktop Model CVE3401 burner problems

The part you need to replace is the switch. The switch is housed under the top and connects to the dial you are turning.
The switch for the dual burner is 12002125, and 74011242 for the single burner.

The single burner switch runs about $20.00 and the dual runs about $50.00 for the parts

Did the element fail, or the switch, or the harness?

Buying and learning to use an ohmmeter is best. You can also inspect both the harness and the burner for damage. If nothing is burnt or broken, then you probably need the switch. Hope this helps!

Dual Element

check underneath the element, you may have something preventing the element from gihting up. if you didn't find anything, then it is time to get a new element.

Jenn-Air element won't shut off

most likely its a faulty switch, not completly shutting down trickling power out.

Inop burner on new jenn-air JEC9530 elec flat cooktop

I'm having the same problem with my jec9530. The dual burner just quit working one day. I called jennair and they sent me a replacement "custom control" for free. 6 months later it quit again. I am now considering attempting to put an infinite switch (dual), part #PS786568 in its place. It is not electronic, and it looks like it is used for the jec9536 middle back dual burner. It is only $35, even if it doesn't work like the electronic one I don't care. My wife usually only uses both burners at the same time anyway.
