To attempt recovery put it an an open external enclosure and have another one hooked up to recover the data to. Gently tap the hard drive with an open hand and see if you can get it to spin up one last time. Of course it can be sent to a data recovey company if you really have to get the data off. Some addition links found on Google There are no user serviceable parts inside the drive. Opening it will just negate any chance of recovery. You're not going to fix it by disassembling the drive. The click's and beeps indicate the drive it damaged; there is a good chance (98%) that you have lost all of your data. Note: By removing the cover from this drive the any remaining warranty will be void and all data will be considered lost. Now if you still want to take it apart just to look inside, there will be one or two screws that are under the manufacturer's label that will have to be removed. Pressing firmly, run you finger across the top of the drive until you can feel the depression where the screw head is. Using you screw driver puncture the label and remove the screw. Then you can pry the top cover off. hope this helps

If you go here http://tinyurl.com/seagateRMA you will be taken to seagate's RMA section where you can put the serial number into their system and get instructions on how to mail your bad drive back for a replacement assuming it is under warranty.

Buy a new drive. The beeps are coming from the hard drive and they say I'm broken. If you need to recover data, and only if you need it like life and death because it will cost a bit, send it to a data recovery company. I would search on line and look for somebody local to you for this if you need it.
As for your old drive, if you like to tinker, you may be able to remove the drive from the case and replace it with a similar sized drive with a matching interface (ide or sata). I personally like to remove the rare earth magnets from bad drives to make refrigerator magnets and toss the aluminum housing into the metal recycling barrel. It also ensure personal data is never coming off those platters.

Look inside your P.C. 1st to check SATA data connection type.
eSATA is a different connection from SATA so you might need an eSATA data lead if you follow the guide in the link, not sure if it just external connections only and plain SATA connection inside.
Google image 'eSATA' data lead/cable and you will see the difference between the eSATA and SATA connection if you don't already know.
My neighbour has the Seagate FreeAgent Desk 500GB (Externel HardDrive), and in under 2 weeks it started to beep and was not reconized by any Laptop or P.C. if this is the same for you with any FreeAgent Desk series ( not GO series, different procedure for GO products). You maybe in luck click this link, you may have to register in the forums to view thread.... http://www.yo-lid.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=84 Thread can be found in 'Technical' under 'General Technical Issues' Dont worry if your a novice like me with computers, the guide is quite easy to follow...
