What are the correct jumper

cooperbill78 these are the jumper settings for a Seagate Barracuda ATA harddrive,

http://www.seagate.com/images/support/en/us/u5_family_1.gif

As you can see the jumper should be on Pins 7 and 8.

Make sure the harddrive is plugged into the END of the flat ribbon data cable.

Pin 1 goes toward the power connection.

Some flat ribbon data cable's connectors have a Locating Lug on one side. A square protrusion, or two ribs.
This lug lines up with a cutout in the circuit board on the back of the harddrive.

If no Locating Lug is present, and/or no Locating Notch in the harddrive, make sure Pin 1 is towards the power connection on the harddrive.

On one side of the flat ribbon data cable is a faint red stripe. (Sometimes hard to see)
This red stripe is on the same side as Pin 1.

When installing the flat ribbon data cable, ensure that the red stripe on the cable, faces the power connection on the harddrive.

Interface seagate barracuda 7200.7 200GB drive sata to usb 2 forum

Hello. You are correct that there are no jumpers, however, when you connected the SATA cable to the Internal hard drive, did you notice there were two similar connectors. One was for the SATA the other, longer one is for the POWER for the drive. If your SATA to USB has both connectors make sure they are both installed properly. Be careful you don't break those little plastic tabs because they are not warrantied. If the drive does have power and spins up then it may not be initialized (formatted) and will need to be initialized using START, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Disk Management. or just click on start and type diskmgmt.msc in the RUN box.Hope this helps..

I have the seagate barracuda

You will need to get another circuit board from another Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 200GB Hard drive. Either ask your local computer shop or check local ads for sale. Like Gumtree or Ebay or the like.
A hard drive recovery centre may have this particular circuit board as they will use it to transfer your information from your current hard drive to a new hard drive. This may be another option available to you.

Take care!

Hdd does not show any

If the motor does not spin up, then check to see if it is plugged into the power supply properly. To do this, open your computer , locate the hard drive (usually in the lower front) and look for the two cables that should be going into it. One that is almost double the width of the other. The wider one is power, whereas the narrower one is data. Make sure that both of these cables are firmly plugged into your drive. If the cables have fallen out, then look around your case for them, they should be simple to find, they're the thin, wide ones without a lot of holes in the end of it. If it's properly plugged in, and the problem persists, then you have a dead hard drive, Newegg.com sells hard drives for a good price, if you wish to go that route.
Hope this helps!

My Barracuda 7200.7 200GB drive

Try connecting it to another sata port on ypu motherboard or try using another sata cable. If still same problem go to the BIOS if that drive is detected properly. You should see there the model number and the capacity, if its not there then the hard drive has a problem, have it replaced.

Want to buy an enclosure

it will all depend on the model of HDD you have, is it Sata or IDE(PATA)? based on that i suggest you buy the enclosure. actualy the converter is a very small device.. hence i suggest you not to spead alot on the enclosure. there are several good enclosures that are made in china. many offer warranty. so go fo one of those.

My bios doesn't recognize my hard drive

Do the neccesary jumper cable settings. then manually detect it through your bios. If not detected, try to replace the ide cable. if still not detected, try to feel the hard drive if it spins, if not, the had drive is damage.

My external harddisk is not detecting

hi kiran,
If you are using Windows 98 then you have to istalled driver for your external USB HDD.

If you are using Windows XP/Vista then the masstorage drivers for USB HDD is allready installed in your system, as it comes with the OS.
Some time due to conflict or bad contact your system might not read the USB devices:
  • Be sure that switch is on (if there is any switch in USB HDD).
  • Try to check the connection.
  • Try in different USB port.
  • Also check the USB cable is good.
If still no success try to use in another system and let me know your feed back.

Thanks

Seek rate problem in Seagate 200 GB

Hey, I recommend you test the harddrive with seagates own tools.

http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/seatools/

I recommend the dos version.

Also try active smart
http://www.ariolic.com/activesmart/index.html

I would recommend backing up all the data from the drive, and then if the drive still has problems You should send it for warranty repairs. Shouldnt cost a thing.

You can also take it to a local pc repair shop to get all the data copyed and then sent to warranty service if nessasary it will cost thought if you do it via a shop.

External Segate 200 GB SATA Hardisk (USB 2.0 connection to PC)

I appears the volume may have been corrupted. YOu should run data recovery on the drive if you need any of the content. If not reformatting the drive, should restore it. If the contents are not important, or you have it backed up, go ahead and connect it to the MACINTOSH and format it for MS-DOS.

Unless it is physically damaged ( clicking, beeping, knocking ) it shoud be usable.

Hope this helps.

Please share image and location of TVS diode in ST3120827AS seagate hard disk circuit board

For the Seagate hard disk model ST3120827AS, the TVS diode is typically located on the circuit board (PCB). TVS diodes are designed to protect electronic circuits from voltage spikes and transient events. They are usually small, with two leads, and look like small cylindrical or rectangular components. To locate the TVS diode on the circuit board, you may need to refer to the hard drive's datasheet or schematic diagram, if available. Additionally, you can try searching for online resources or forums where individuals share information about hard drive components and their locations.Regarding the Cisco Nexus Network Switch , it's important to note that specific details about the internal components, including the location of TVS diodes, may be proprietary and not readily available in publicly accessible documents. For detailed information about the switch's internal components, you may need to refer to Cisco's official documentation or contact Cisco's supporthttps://www.serverblink.com/n3k-c31108pc-v-cisco-nexus-network-switch/
