HEADPHONE ENGAGED AND NOT PLUGED IN.

Hi
My onkyo 805 shows the headphone engaged symbol in the display and they are not hooked up. All i did was push the setup button on the front of the unit when this problem showed up. I have tried the reset clear function with the vcr/dvd button and the power switch and this did not clear the problem. On the setup step 2 for the speaker setup does not sho up the steps go from 1 to three . Is their any thing I can do to clearthe headphone engaged symbol. YES I DID POWER DOWN AND DISCONNECT FROM POWER FOR SEVERAL HOURS.
Please help
James [email protected] HEADPHONE ENGAGED message is always shown. My 2 year old pulled out the headphones from this unit, and now no audio will play through speakers.

I opened up the unit to and discovered that the circuit board that the headphone jack is connected to has been cracked in half. I do appreciate the tip though. Fixing a circuit board may be beyond my skills.

Unplug unit from Ac outlet and spray little amount of WD-40 contact cleaner in headphone socket then plug headphone in that socket for few times like 8-10 times.
This will clean headphone switch inside headphone socket.

When your son pulled out the headphones he must have broke the auto pressure switch right inside of the headphone jack input (its most lickly just bent out of place making a contact that is telling the amp the headphones are still in! you can try to bend the contact back into place...but if it is broken it will need replaced (a cheap repair!)

I just get an Onkyo RZ900 and I notice that on the board of the receiver shows the icon of a headphone in use and it's avoiding me from getting sound to the speakers that are connected 2 the receiver

Jerry, I would suggest a reset of the unit to clear this as it seems to be reading that the headphone input is being engaged. To reset the unit hold down the CBL button on the far right of the receiver. While holding that button down press the ON/STANDBY button on the top left of the receiver. It should say CLEAR in the screen of the receiver which indicates that you have done the reset correctly. The unit will then turn itself. Give it about a minute then turn it back on. If the headphone is still engaged then the unit would have to be returned if still within the return policy of the dealer. Thanks, FJD

I want to connect a Sony Wireless headphone to the receiver w/o disabling the speakers.

Headphone for DVD on 2006 Chrysler Town and Country

Just found this and it worked! Hope it does for you as well:
There should be a button on the DVD remote control with a headphone symbol on it. Make sure the headphones are turned on(red indicator on earpiece) and push the headphone button on remote. The headphones will only work in the back seats of the vehicle. Once you have audio to the headphones, you should be able to hit the AM/FM button on the radio and listen to the radio while back passengers use the headphones for video.

How do I hook up my blue tooth headphones to my onkyo SR 605

You cannot rig up a blue tooth headphones to this receiver with out a blue tooth transmitter ( the Onkyo does not have one built in ). If you have a transmitter it can be plugged into the headphone out socket of the Onkyo ( in front ), just remember that it will cut out the sound from all your speakers when you insert the headphone jack . The advantage though with this connection is you can control the headphone volume using the Onkyo remote.

'phones engaged' no sound

Well,
My onkyo receiver was keep displaying "Phones Engaged" and no sound.
All I did was plugged in a phones plug and remove it and for the last 2 weeks there is no problem.
I just happened to have a phone plug (without the actual headphone or wires) and that seems to fix the problem.
Hope it will work you all of you as well.
Good luck.
