Hi
My onkyo 805 shows the headphone engaged symbol in the display and they are not hooked up. All i did was push the setup button on the front of the unit when this problem showed up. I have tried the reset clear function with the vcr/dvd button and the power switch and this did not clear the problem. On the setup step 2 for the speaker setup does not sho up the steps go from 1 to three . Is their any thing I can do to clearthe headphone engaged symbol. YES I DID POWER DOWN AND DISCONNECT FROM POWER FOR SEVERAL HOURS.
Please help

HEADPHONE ENGAGED message is always shown. My 2 year old pulled out the headphones from this unit, and now no audio will play through speakers.
When your son pulled out the headphones he must have broke the auto pressure switch right inside of the headphone jack input (its most lickly just bent out of place making a contact that is telling the amp the headphones are still in! you can try to bend the contact back into place...but if it is broken it will need replaced (a cheap repair!)

Just found this and it worked! Hope it does for you as well:
There should be a button on the DVD remote control with a headphone symbol on it. Make sure the headphones are turned on(red indicator on earpiece) and push the headphone button on remote. The headphones will only work in the back seats of the vehicle. Once you have audio to the headphones, you should be able to hit the AM/FM button on the radio and listen to the radio while back passengers use the headphones for video.

I opened up the unit to and discovered that the circuit board that the headphone jack is connected to has been cracked in half. I do appreciate the tip though. Fixing a circuit board may be beyond my skills.
Unplug unit from Ac outlet and spray little amount of WD-40 contact cleaner in headphone socket then plug headphone in that socket for few times like 8-10 times.
This will clean headphone switch inside headphone socket.
